276 <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 17, 1941 <br />$:00 P. M. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen L. C. Christensen, E. A. <br />Fletcher, F. D. Granger, G. W. McNulty, W. M. Werder, Mayor H. F. Anderson <br />and City Clerk C. W. Eltringham. Absent, Councilman H. W. Edmonds. <br />On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Christensen, the minutes <br />of the regular meeting of February 3, 1941, and the adjourned regular meetings <br />of February 4 and February 10, 1941, were approved. <br />Duncan Reynard addressed the Council in behalf of the Bel Canto Chorus, and after <br />outlining the activities of the Chorus asked that the Council give recognition <br />and moral support to the Chorus as a civic organization. On motion of Council- <br />man Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, it was decided to recognize and <br />sponsor the Chorus as a civic organization, and to extend the best wishes of <br />the Council. <br />Mrs. Randolph Pajelich, 1525 Oxford Street, spoke in connection with the flood con - <br />ditions in this area. City Manager Dimmitt explained the causes,of floods in <br />this vicinity and also what had already been done in attempt to eliminate <br />them. After discussion, it was decided that the City Manager contact the <br />County and Federal authorities to ascertain what assistance the City might <br />get in this matter and to report the progress made at the next meeting. <br />In a letter addressed to the Council, the Parks and Recreation Commission recom- <br />mended that permission granted the Boy Scouts of America to place a boat in <br />the berth next to one occupied by them at the Yacht Harbor be revoked for <br />the reason that the boat is not equipped with a motor and, therefore, cannot <br />be used for the purpose intended. Councilman Werder,. seconded by Councilman <br />Fletcher, proposed that the recommendation of the Parks and Recreation Com- <br />mission be accepted. Motion carried. <br />On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Werder;, the sum of $25.00 <br />was appropriated from the City advertising fund to provide trophies for con- <br />testants of a Trail Riding Contest on May 10 and 11, 1941, sponsored by the <br />Chamber of Commerce. <br />The Chamber of Commerce, in a letter addressed to the Council, stated that the 75th <br />0 <br />anniversary of the incorporation of Redwood City as a City will be May 11, 1942, <br />and proposed holding a Diamond Jubilee Celebration in the observance of this <br />occasion. Endorsement and approval df this proposed event was given on motion <br />of Councilman Werder; seconded*by Councilman Fletcher and carried. <br />' � h <br />
