H1 <br />i <br />Y <br />P' <br />z <br />An ordinance to be known as, "The Redwood City Electrical Code' regulating the placing) <br />i <br />f installing, operating and removing of electrical wire and electrical apparatus <br />in the City of Redwood City, County*of San Mateo, State of California, and pro- <br />viding inspection and inspection fees and penalties for violations of this code' <br />and repealing conflicting ordinance was -offered for introduction on motion of <br />L Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, and carried. <br />The report of the City Manager on flood conditions on Oxford Street was continued <br />until the next meeting. <br />In connection with the alleged dancing school conducted at 221 Hudson Street, a pro- <br />test filed by John H., D. Peters, agent for Clara M. Chambers and Laura C. Joyce, <br />owners of property at 229 Hudson Street, was read. Dorothy Roberts spoke in <br />a defense of her school and denied the statements made in protests. Councilman <br />Werder advised that he had investigated the premises during the time a class <br />was being instructed and in his opinion there was no objectionable noise. After <br />discussion, the matter was ordered dropped. <br />There was read a letter from Antone Petersen & Sons, Building Contractors, asking <br />that abatement proceedings against'the building located at Spruce and Main <br />t <br />t Streets and'oirned by Miss Lillian Kuck be continued until the next meeting of <br />the Council in order that they may have time to complete plans and specifica- <br />tions for remodeling same. Permission granted on motion of Councilman Fletcher, <br />seconded by Councilman Christensen, and carried. The City Clerk was instructed <br />i <br />r` to inform the contractors that the plans and specifications must be delivered <br />6 <br />to the City Building Inspector not later than March 14, 1941. <br />The matter of the Redwood City Bus Line Franchise was ordered placed on the agenda <br />for the next meeting. . <br />In connection with the proposed ordinance defining nuisances and prohibiting their. <br />maintenance in the City of Redwood City a protest against paragraph four of <br />section one of the ordinance as introduced, filed by L. and M. Chappelle, 337 <br />Lotiell Street, was read. Mr. L. Chappelle addressed the Council relative to <br />the ordinance and asked that the above paragraph and section be changed to per - <br />mit the maintenance of animals kept as pets within a distance'of 20 feet mom <br />the street curb or dwelling inhabited by the owner of such pets and 40 feet <br />from dwelling of anyone except the owner. He further explained that the: size <br />of his property, on which two pet monkeys dere kept, was not sufficient to <br />allow placing the cage in which the pets are kept a distance of 40 feet from <br />i <br />the residence as required by the ordinance and that present location of the <br />cage at 27 feet from the house did not constitute a nuisance and was not <br />
