0 <br />of this resolution and if not so abated by the owner directing the City <br />Building Inspector to remove the building. Carried by unanimous vote of <br />the councilmen present. (See page 28621 for resolution). <br />On motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Werder, the City <br />Attorney and, City Engineer were instructed to start proceedings for the <br />construction of sidewalks on both sides of Roosevelt Avenue between El <br />Camino Real and Dickey Street in accordance with a petition submitted <br />by property owners in this area. <br />A petition, signed by fifty-five persons, was presented by L. Chappelle asking <br />that paragraph 4; section 1, of the proposed ordinance defining nuisances <br />and prohibiting their maintenance in'the City of Redwood City be changed <br />to permit the location of the house, coop, or runway in which animals kept <br />as pets at a distance of twenty feet, from the owner's dwelling, twenty <br />feet from the street and forty feet from the dwellings other than that oc- <br />cupied by the owner of such pets, instead of forty feet from any street <br />or dwelling as provided in the ordinance. After discussion, it was agreed <br />that this section of the ordinance would be amended in some respect as soon <br />as it became effective. Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Werder, <br />then proposed the adoption -of Ordinance No. 451,'defining nuisances and <br />prohibiting�their.maintenance in the City of Redwood City. Carried on <br />roll call by unanimous vote of the councilmen present. <br />The Chief of Police reported that pedestrian lanes and notices of school crossings <br />were being painted across E1 Camino Real, south of Five Points as a safeguard <br />for school children crossing the highway. <br />The zoning ordinance was ordered placed on the agenda for the next meeting. <br />On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Granger, a leave of <br />absence and permission to leave the state for a period of ninety days from <br />March 25, 1941, was granted Councilman H. W. Edmonds. <br />Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman McNulty proposed the adoption of Ordi- <br />nance No. 452, and ordinance to be known as"The Redwood City.Electrical Code, <br />Regulating the Placing, Installing, Operating and Removing the Electrical <br />Wires and Electrical Apparatus in the City of Redwood City and Providing <br />Inspection Fees and Penalties for Violations of this Code, and Repealing <br />Conflicting Ordinances." Carried by unanimous vote of the councilmen present. <br />Resolution of Intention No. 1941-1 authorizing the abatement of weeds within the <br />City of Redwood City was approved on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded <br />by Councilman Christensen and carried by unanimous vote of the councilmen <br />present. <br />to <br />
