<br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL
<br />MARCH 31, 1941
<br />8:00 P. M.
<br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen L. C. Christensen, E. A.
<br />Fletcher, F. D. Granger, G. W. McNulty, W. M. Werder, Mayor H. F. Anderson,
<br />City Clerk C. W. Eltringham; absent: H. W. Edmonds.
<br />There was read a letter from the Brotherhood of Painters, Decorators and Paper
<br />Hangers of America..relative to the purchase of city supplies from stores
<br />where disputes existed between employer and employees. On motion of
<br />Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Granger, the City Manager was
<br />instructed to advise department heads of the city to recognize the right
<br />of both the employer and employee in matters of this nature and to avoid
<br />any act which may be interpreted as taking part in such disputes.
<br />Affidavits of publishing notices of election for Special Municipal Bond,Elec-
<br />tion held on March 25, 1941, and the affidavits of City Clerk C. W.
<br />Eltringham, of notices of appointment of election officers, of mailing
<br />of sample ballots, polling place cards, etc., were on motion of Council-
<br />man Christensen, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, ordered filed.
<br />Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman•Fletcher, proposed the adoption of
<br />the following resolution: Carried by unanimous vote of councilmen,present.
<br />RESOLUTION DECLARING CANVASS OF RETURNS AND RESULT."OF SPECIAL MUNICIPAL
<br />BOND ELECTION HELD MARCH 25, 1941
<br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Redwood City by Ordinance No. 450
<br />duly called and ordered held in said City of Redwood City an election on
<br />the 25th day of March,1941, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified
<br />voters and electors thereof the following propositions, to -wit:
<br />PROPOSITION NO. 1 Shall the City of Redwood City incur a bonded indebted -
<br />(Improvement of ness in the principal amount of $150,000 in accordance
<br />the Port) with the provisions of the ordinance calling the elec-
<br />tion at which this proposition is submitted, for the
<br />object and purpose of acquiring, constructing and completing the following
<br />municipal improvement, to -wit: Improvement of the Port of Redwood City,
<br />including wharves, docks, warehouses, transit sheds, extensions and addi-
<br />tions thereto, dredging,•turning basin and waterfront improvements, spur
<br />tracks and railroad facilities, streets, roadways and approaches to the
<br />harbor, mechanical cargo handling appliances, and such works, structures
<br />or properties as may be necessary or convenient for the accommodation of
<br />shipping by rail and water and facilitating the commerce of the Port° of
<br />Redwood City?
<br />PROPOSITION NO. 2 Shall the City of Redwood City incur a bonded indebted -
<br />(New Recreational ness in the principal amount of 075,000 in accordance
<br />.Facilities) with the provisions of the ordinance calling the elec-
<br />tion at which this proposition is submitted, for the
<br />object and purpose of acquiring, constructing and completing the following
<br />municipal improvement, to -wit: New and additional park, playground and
<br />recreational facilities, including land, landscaping, park, playground and
<br />recreational equipment and apparatus, and all other works, properties and
<br />structures necessary or convenient for new and additional publiq park, play-
<br />ground and recreational facilities of the City of Redwood City?
