t <br />7 <br />I <br />2R.5 <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 7, 1941 <br />5:00 P. M. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen L. C. Christensen, E. A. <br />Fletcher, F. D: Granger, G. W. McNulty, Mayor H. F. Anderson, City Clerk <br />C. W. Eltringham;=absent, Councilmen.H. W. Edmonds and W. M. Werder. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of March 17, 1941, and the adjourned regular <br />meeting of March 31, 1941, were approved on motion of Councilman Christensen, <br />seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />There'was,,read a letter from Dr. Charles C. Gans•of the Health Department explain- <br />ing that due to illness a representative of the department was not present <br />at the last meeting. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded.by Councilman McNulty, the City Collector <br />was authorized to execute an agreement for sale of Lots 11 and 12, Block J, <br />Boyd and Kent Addition, with Harold A. and Bessie E. Davies. The sale price <br />of the property to be $600, payable $60 on signing the contract and the re-"_"'� <br />mainder payable at the rate of $23 or more per month, with interest at the <br />rate of 6% per"annum on the unpaid balance. <br />The Redwood City Piublic Libravy in a letter addressed to the Council explained that <br />due to the necessity of employing a typist formerly furnished and paid by the <br />Works Progress Administration, it was necessary to ask that consideration be <br />,given to their request for additional funds for the current year. After dis- <br />cussion, and on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Granger, <br />it was decided to hold this matter over until the next regular meeting, and <br />the City Manager was directed to submit a detailed statement covering the <br />activities of the library for the remainder of the year. <br />a.n1 <br />There was read another letter from the Board of Trustees of the Redwood City Public <br />Library with reference to taxes paid by citizens of Redwood City for the sup- <br />port of the County Library and recommending that steps be taken to withdraw <br />the citizens' participation in County Library activities, provided the amount <br />now being contributed to the support of the County Library be included in the <br />city tax rate and, added.to the budget of the city library. This matter was <br />also discussed by the Council and ordered held over until the next regular <br />meeting. <br />In connection with a letter from Robert E. Callogg, 950 Hudson Street; relative to <br />building permits issued for an amount greater than the apparent cost to con- <br />struct the building, City Attorney Mansfield advised that under the building <br />
