A resolution declaring Chestnut Street, from Broadway to El Camino Real, and <br />Redwood Avenue, from El Camino Real to Valota Road, Streets of Major <br />Importance in the City of Redwood City was adopted on motion of Coun- <br />cilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Christensen. <br />Councilman Werder brought up the matter of cooperation between San Mateo <br />County and the municipalities of the County., It was pointed out <br />that between 50 and 75� of the county tax is paid by residents within <br />the incorporated areas, but very little of this tax money was spent <br />for the direct benefit of the city taxpayers. After discussion, a com- <br />mittee consisting of Councilman Granger as chairman, Councilman Werder, <br />and Christensen were -appointed by the Mayor to enlist the support of other <br />San Mateo County cities in this matter. <br />On motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the City <br />Manager was directed to communicate with the Board of Trustees of the <br />Sequoia Union High School and ask that provision be made in their next <br />budget for completion of the fence along James Avenue. <br />On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman AcI4ulty, the City <br />Manager was authorized to revise the water rate schedules applicable <br />to large commercial users outside the city limits and to establish a <br />rate of 16 cents for these consumers. <br />The matter of adequate street lighting in the Oakwood Avenue district was <br />referred to the City Manager. <br />Councilman Fletcher brought up the subject of compensation paid by the city <br />for laborers and expressed the belief that provision should be made in <br />. <br />41 the next budget to pay laborers working on city jobs an amount commen- <br />surate with private industry. <br />The departmental reports were ordered filed. <br />Approved claims aggregating $9,654. were ordered paid. <br />Adjournment to April 14, 1941, at 8:00 P. 14. <br />9`�.?? •&' <br />iii.
