<br />The City Manager submitted letter from Dr. R. Lee Otis tendering his resignation from
<br />all active part with the Redwood City Municipal Band to take effect April 10. The
<br />Clerk was instructed, on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty,
<br />to write a letter to Dr. Otis accepting his resignation with regret and voicing ap-
<br />preciation for his work in developing the band.
<br />The Clerk read a claim of Mary E. Devin, 1414 Main Street, Redwood City, for damages in
<br />the sum of $20,000 for the death of her son on January 22, 1939• The claim was re-
<br />ferred, on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, to the City
<br />Attorney.
<br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the offer of B. Lester
<br />Fiedeler to purchase for $400 each Lots 6 and 7, Block 9, Range D, Mezesville, was
<br />accepted and the City Attorney instructed to draw up the necessary papers for the
<br />deferred payments.
<br />On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, and carried, resolu-
<br />tions were adopted accepting deeds covering property listed below:

<br />Rogers Street from Bay Shore Highway to Arguello Street, and the same were anrroved
<br />on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson, and the City Clerk
<br />authorized to call for bids May 1, 1939•
<br />Thomas Nelson appeared before the board to insist that he be given building permit for
<br />four bungalow courts on Hudson Street between Katherine Street and James Avenue. He
<br />indicated that there was 100 feet frontage and that the entire building program would
<br />mean a cost of $13,500. He stated that while he had not made formal application for
<br />the nermit, he had talked over the desirability of doing the work prior to the time
<br />anything; was said about limiting, such construction in that part of town. He speci-
<br />fically asked that the City Attorney render a decision as to whether or not the city
