gut <br />il <br />and five (5) feet wide; said sidewalks shall also be constructed upon <br />all gorners of intersecting and terminating streets and avenues within <br />the limits hereinbefore described. <br />There is hereby excepted from the hereinbefore described work and <br />.improvements any parts thereof that is already done to the line and <br />grade as shown on the plans, profiles and specifications mentioned <br />herein. <br />The Clerk of the City of Redwood City is hereby ordered and directed <br />to post a notice of said work and improvements, together with plans, <br />profiles, detailed drawings and specifications therefor, conspicuously <br />for five days on or near the Council Cha"iber door of the Council of the <br />City of Redwood City inviting sealed proposals or bids for doing the ' <br />work and making the improvements ordered he Said.City Clerk is <br />also ordered and directed to publish a notice inviting such sealed pro- <br />posals or bids, and referring to the plans, profiles, detailed drawings <br />and specifications posted or on file for the.period required by law <br />in the Redwood City Tribune, a daily (except Sunday) newspaper of general <br />circulation published, printed and circulated in the City of Redwood <br />City, and hereby designated for that purpose by the Council of said <br />City. <br />It is further ordered that said sealed proposals or bids be publicly <br />opened, examined and declared by the Council of said City of Redwood <br />City at the hour of 8:00 o'clock P.M. of Monday, theā¢2nd day of June; <br />1941, and all bids must be filed with the Clerk of the Council of the <br />City of Redwood City on or before such date and hour." <br />Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen, offered for intro - <br />:duction an ordinance amending Ordinance No. 442, "An Ordinance Regu- <br />lating the.Size of Lots Upon Which Residences Can Be Built~in the <br />First Residential District of the City of Redwood City, to Permit the <br />Council to Divide Lotswthat Have 5,000 or More Square Feet and have a <br />Frontage that is Suitable For the Construction of the Residences Thereon." <br />It was decided to continue to the next meeting the matter of placing the <br />"Climate Best by Government Test'l signs when the exact location for <br />erection of the signs would be determined and an estimate of erection <br />costs submitted. <br />0 <br />Applications of George H. Elmore and Mrs. J. C. Lukens for special permit <br />to continue the squab and breeder hatcheries business at 367 Encina <br />1536 Oxford Street, respectively, were granted on motion of Council- <br />man Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen. <br />In connection with protests received relative to certain houses being con- <br />structed in the 900 block on Hudson Street which assertedly were less <br />than the amount indicated by the building permit, Building Inspector <br />Duncan submitted correspondence with the contractors who constructed <br />these buildings, indicating the cost of construction was $3,000 per <br />house or $2,900 per -house if three were built at one time. Another <br />letter from Charles Holt stated that these houses were built under <br />F. H,.'A. approval and inspection, had a F. H. A. commitment through <br />the First National Bank of San Mateo County of $3,400 per house, which <br />a <br />u <br />j <br />
