J. Scafidi complained about conditions of Hess Road, and asked if it <br />i <br />were not possible to obtain some assistance from the county toward <br />improving this road. City Manager Dimmitt explained the road was of <br />red rock construction and with the cooperation of all the property <br />a <br />owners on the street, the road could be surfacedby the City paying <br />for the labor and the property owners for the material, but one pro- <br />perty owner- with considerable frontage objected to this method. He <br />also stated he would contact this property owner and endeavor to se- <br />cure his cooperation,, advising him that this method would be less <br />costly than public improvement proceedings which may be started. <br />v. <br />Mayor Anderson read a communication from California Mission Trails Associa- <br />tion asking endorsement of a resolution requesting expenditure of <br />federal funds for improvement of strategic roads and highways in the <br />State of California. On motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by <br />Councilman McNulty, and carried by the unanimous vote of the council- <br />men present, it was decided to adopt and endorse the resolution. <br />Building Inspector Duncan was directed to report at the next meeting on <br />condition of the building located at 1926 Jefferson Avenue. <br />Councilman Fletcher was granted permission to leave the State for a period <br />of thirty days on motion .of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Council- <br />man McNulty. <br />The matter of speeding on city streets and violations of the parking ordi- <br />nances was discussed and the desirability of having the traffic officer <br />check parked cars at irregular intervals was discussed. <br />Departmental reports were ordered filed. <br />Approved claims aggregating $7,808.46 were ordered paid on motion of Coun- <br />cilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Werder..- <br />Adjournment <br />C.
