314 <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen, the <br />.matter of proposed amendments to Ordinance -/+51 (Animal -and Fowl Ordi- <br />nance) was held over until the next meeting. <br />The City Manager read a letter from the Highway Commission rejecting the <br />city's request to erect the "Climate Best by Government Testis sign* <br />at Main Street and E1 Camino Real.. City Manager explained that ten- <br />tative arrangements have been made with the Standard Oil Company for <br />1 <br />election of one section of the sign at the corner of Claremont Street <br />and El Camino Real. On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded, by <br />Councilman Fletcher, the City Manager was directed to obtain permission <br />from the Standard Oil Company for erection of the sign at the above <br />location, at a point as close as possible to the highway, and to nego- <br />tiate with the 'Shell Oil Company for permission to locate the remaining. <br />section of the sign over their.property at the corner of Plain Street <br />and El Camino Real. <br />Special permits to conduct poultry business at 1607 Gordon Street and 351 <br />Encina Avenue were granted, subject to approval by the Health Depart- <br />ment, to Nicholas Bell and Sfax Rothenberger on motion of Councilman <br />Fletcher and seconded by Councilman Granger. <br />Ordinance 454 "An ordinance amending an ordinance entitled 'Ordinance No. <br />442• An ordinance regulating the size of lots upon which residences <br />can be built in the first residential districts of the City of Red- <br />wood Cityt, passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood` <br />City on the 3rd Day of June, 1940", was unanimously adopted on motion <br />of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen. <br />There.was read a letter from the San Mateo County Council Boy Scouts of <br />America requesting permission to use the mooring slip.at the.Yacht <br />Harbor for the Sea Scouts' boat for another forty-five days. Permis- <br />sion granted on motion of Councilman 1:'erder, seconded by Councilman <br />Fletcher. <br />There was read a letter from United Veterans Council inviting the Mayor <br />and members of the City Council to participate in their annual Commu- <br />nity Memorial Day observance ceremonies on Friday morning, May 30, 1941. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher and seconded by Councilman Werder, the <br />City Collector was authorized to execute contracts for sale of the <br />following property: <br />1. Lot 12, Block 19, Central Park No. 2, with Frank, A. Grunnert for fl I <br />the sum of $1200.00 payable $120.00 down, the balance to paid at �J <br />the rate of $45.00 per month with interest at 6%. <br />
