Car- <br />ried by unanimous vote of the councilmen present. <br />A detailed report on flood conditions in Woodside Acres and Valota Park pre- <br />pared by the City Manager was read. After discussion', the matter was <br />ordered placed on the agenda for the next, meeting, and the City Manager <br />was.directed to submit an estimate of the cost of constructing a drain- <br />age ditch in the vicinity of Oak and Redwood Avenues.. <br />Mayor Anderson reported that the Clean -Up Committee would be appointed the <br />next meeting when a larger number of responses to his letters had been <br />received. <br />An ordinance regulating burials and the sale of lots or plots in Union Ceme- <br />tery was introduced on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by <br />Councilman Fletcher. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McIuulty, permission <br />was granted the McCloud Motor Company to conduct a used car lot at a <br />location adjoining the Poole Transfer Company office on Jefferson <br />Avenue. <br />Special permit to continue the poultry business at 377 Roble Avenue was <br />granted Johanna M. Donovan on motion of Councilman Werder, seconded <br />by Councilman - Granger. <br />0 <br />There was read a letter from Charles C. Gans, M. D., suggesting that an <br />ordinance be passed, preferably an amendment to the existing business <br />license ordinance, requiring food establishments and other types of <br />business to display on the premises a certificate of sanitation as <br />provided by the health officer of the city. The City Attorney, on <br />motion of Councilman Fletcher; seconded by Councilman Granger, was <br />instructed to prepare such•an ordinance, <br />The City Manager in a letter addressed to the Council advised that the <br />present contract of group life insurance with the Travelers Insurance <br />Company provides that employees shall not pay a premium in excess of <br />600 per month, the balance to be paid by the city. The entire cost <br />of this insurance has been paid by the employees during the pastyear <br />on account of a ruling by the Attorney General, and the policy has <br />continued in force by rider which expired June 1, 1941. State legis - <br />lation has now been passed authorizing the cities to contribute to <br />
