e <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />i, REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNE 16, 1941 <br />8:00 P. NI. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen.L. C. Christensen, <br />E. A. Flet -cher, F. D. Granger, G. W. McNulty, W. M. Werder, Mayor <br />H. F. Anderson, and City Clerk C. W. Eltringham; absent, Councilman <br />H. W: Edmonds. Also present were City Manager C. L. Dimmitt, City <br />Attorney Albert Mansfield, City Collector.Nelle L. Miramontes, Chief <br />of Police C. L. Collins, Chief of Fire Department M. E. Ryan', Building <br />Inspector L. M. Duncan, Superintendent of Parks Roger Walsh, and <br />Health Department representative W. E. Smith. <br />Minutes of the regular meeting of June 2, 19/1, were approved on motion'of <br />Councilman.Werder, seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />Application of C. E, Bunyard for permit to hold dances at 768 Woodside Road. <br />was denied on motion of Councilman Fletcher,,seconded by Councilman <br />McNulty. Later in the meeting Mr. Bunyard.addressed the Council•'in <br />connection with his application and was informed of his promise to pre- <br />sent a letter of "clearance" from the State Board of Equalization. <br />After discussion} and on motion o£• Councilman W�erder, 'seconded by Coun- <br />cilman McNulty, the City Clerk was directed to communicate *ith the <br />State Board of Equalization and submit the rely to, the Chief of Police <br />,.. <br />w <br />for investigation. <br />There was read a letter from Redwood City Post 4o.�105, The American Legion, <br />offering its services to the City of Redwood City in the formation of <br />a Home Defense Unit. Appreciation of this offer was expressed by the <br />Council and the Clerk was instructed to convey this expression to the <br />Legion. <br />In connection with the franchise for the'.Redwood City Bus Line., there was <br />read a letter from the City Manager,�ppinting out certain matters which. <br />he felt should be clarified. The matter was discussed at some length <br />by Mr. Menifee and members , of the. Council-_ and on motion of Councilman <br />Werder, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the City Manager, City Attorney <br />and Mr. Menifee were .instructed to prepare and.submit at the_next meeting <br />a franchise which had been agreed to by them. -The term of the proposed <br />franchise was discussed and a poll of the Council indicated a majority <br />in favor of a ninety-nine year term. <br />0 <br />3-5 <br />0 <br />
