328 <br />U <br />On motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, the <br />City Manager was authorized to execute an agreement with the State of <br />California for allocation and expenditure of' State Gas Tax Funds <br />during the biennium 1941-1943. <br />The following resolution was adopted on motion of Councilman 11letcher, <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty: <br />"RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City that <br />Brewster Avenue from Bayshore Highway (Route 68) to the south- <br />westerly city limits is declared to be and is a street of major <br />importance in said City of Redwood City. I . <br />Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood <br />City at a regular meeting thereof held on the 16th day of June, <br />1941, by the following vote: <br />Ayes and in favor of the passage of the foregoing resolution: <br />Councilmen L. C. Christensen, E. A. Fletcher, F. D. Granger, <br />G. W. McNulty, W. M. Werder, H. F. Anderson. <br />Noes and against the passage of the foregoing resolution: <br />Councilmen: None <br />Absent: Councilman H. W. Edmonds." <br />On motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman McNulty, expen- <br />diture of $45 -00 -from the Chamber of Commerce advertising fund for <br />Fourth of July Celebration advertising was approved. <br />On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded. by Councilman Fletcher, Council- <br />man Edmonds was granted a ninety day.leave of absence without pay <br />and permission to leave the state, effective as at June 24, 19/x.1. <br />Permit for public*display of fireworks to be held July 4, 1941, was <br />granted the Recreation Department on motion of Councilman Werder, <br />seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen, the <br />City Treasurer was authorized to transfer the sum of $3,000 from the <br />Investment Bond Fund of 1937 to the Real Estate Fund. <br />In connection with employees group life insurance, there was read a letter <br />from Travelers' Insuran.ce•Company informing the 'Council that group <br />life insurance cannot be operated without an employers' contribution <br />and suggesting that consideration be given to a city contribution in <br />the amount of one-third of the premium as permitted by state law re- <br />cently enacted. After discussion, and on motion of Councilman Fletcher., . <br />seconded by Councilman Christensen, it was agreed. that the City would <br />contribute one-third of the premium of the employees group life policy. <br />Y <br />9, <br />
