F
The matter of the "Climate Best by Government Test" sign was discussed
and the City Manager reported he had received no reply from'the Shell
Oil Company in response to his request for permission to locate one
section of'the sign over their property at the intersection of Main
Street and E1'Camino Real. He'also reported the State Highway Com-
1
mission had again refused his request to erect the sign over the high -
'way at this -'location. 'He further reported the installation'of the
framework for the erection of the sign at Claremont Avenue and E1
Camino Real was near completion and that he believed a two-faced sign
should be installed here instead of a single"face sign. The Council
agreed that a two-faced'sign,at this location would be desirable and
directed that the present sign be installed at this location and a
new sign'purchased for erection at the south end of the city.
Building Inspector Duncan reported in connection with the Kuck Building,
he had advertised for bids with no response. Antone Peterson, employed
by Miss Kuck to remodel the building, asked the Council to reconsider
its action to have the building abated and to permit moving it further
back on the property. Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Chris-
tensen, offered a motion allowing the building to be moved back on the
lot, provided work was started in ten days and completed within sixty
days. Motion carried'with Councilman Fletcher voting "No". Discussing
the proposed moving of this building, Mr. Peterson stated that he in- .
tended to move it just back of the fire zone line. 'In this respect,
FCouncilman Fletcher, in line with previous discussion, offered a motion
that the building be moved to the corner of Hancock and Spruce Streets
or the abatement proceedings stand. -Motion seconded by Councilman
Granger and carried.
Traffic and Barking problems were discussed at length.. The -City Manager
was directed to investigate the parking situation in the area near the
American Trust Company and to study the feasibility of routing'traffic
from the Southern Pacific parking lot -to Montgomery and'Jefferson Avenue
instead of permitting congestion on Broadway at this point. 'The City
Attorney was directed to present A the next meeting a resolution order-
ing a stop sign placed at'the corner of Perry -Street and Brewster Avenue.
Departmental reports were ordered filed.
Approved claims aggregating $13,457.95 were ordered paid.
Adjournment.
CWE:MM
_-0.( W im,4,
C.
