336 <br />C <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />JULY 7, 19+1 <br />8:00 P. M. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen L. C. Christensen, <br />F. D. Granger, G. W. McNulty, W. M. Werder, Mayor H. F. Anderson, <br />and City Clerk C. W. Eltringham; absent, Councilmen H. W. Edmonds <br />and E. A. Fletcher. Also present were City Manager C. L. Dimmitt, <br />City Attorney Albert Mansfield, City Collector Nelle L. Miramontes, <br />Chief of Police C. L. Collins, Chief of Fire Department M. E. Ryan, <br />Building.Inspector L. M. Duncan, Superintendent of Parks Roger Walsh, <br />and Health Department representative W. E. Smith. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of June 16, 1941, were approved on motion <br />of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Christensen. <br />A letter from the Redwood City Exchange Club favoring removal of the Southern <br />Pacific freight sheds to a point south of the passenger depot was ordered <br />filed. <br />On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Granger, permission was <br />granted G. E. Hadley and Lulu M. Pray to remove two ornamental pine trees <br />from the parking strip in front of 720 and 726 Brewster Avenue, with the <br />understanding the trees would be removed and replaced with sycamore <br />trees at the expense of the property owners. <br />On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Christensen,the form <br />of an ordinance granting a 99 year franchise to R. F. Martin to operate <br />and maintain a bus line over any and all streets and roads within the <br />cp City of Redwood City was approved by roll call vote of three to two. <br />Councilmen McNulty and Granger, favoring a 25 year term, voted "No". <br />A letter from the Division of Highways relative to intersection openings <br />in the central division strip on El Camino Real was ordered filed. <br />The City Collector was authorized to execute a contract for sale of a por- <br />tion of Lot,'21, Block 7, New High School Acres, with Ralph R. and <br />Geraldine C. Stubbe, 1171 Fay Street, Redwood City, for the sum of <br />0250.00; terms, $25.00 down, the balance payable in 24 monthly install- <br />ments of $9.37 each plus interest at the rate of 6% per annum, on motion <br />of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Christensen. <br />Wayne R. Millington, representing Redwood City Parlor No. 66, Native Sons of <br />the Golden West, presented the City with a California Republic Bear <br />Flag and after outlining the history of the flag, asked that it be <br />11 <br />
