342 W. L. Meussdorffer addressed the Council relative to the installation of wooden light standards along some portions of Al Camino Real and metal standards in other portions and particularly complained about the erection of a wooden pole in front of a gasoline station near his real estate office. It was explained to Mr. Meussdorffer that wooden poles were being used for light standards all along E1 Camino Real with the exception of that portion where the concrete culverts necessitated the use of metal stan- dards. Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Werder, offered a motion directing the City Manager and Chief of the Fire Department to investigate the possibility of relocating this pole. ,Due to inability of R. F. Martin and his attorney, Norman Menifee, to be present at this meeting, the bus matter was held over until the next meeting.. The proposed ordinance regulating the height of fences, walls, and hedges, was discussed.at length and on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, was offered for introduction provided Section 4 which limits the height of hedges on side and rear lines of lots to 7 feet in height,be eliminated. Motion carried. In connection with the matter of flying the California Republic Flag from the regular flag pole, City Manager Dimmitt advised he had been in- formed it was not mandatory that this flag be flown from a flag pole located on a public building, therefore there could be no objection to displaying it from the regular flag pole. Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, proposed the adoption of Ordinance No. 461, an ordinance creating certain offices and posi- tions in the City of Redwood City and fixing the compensation or sal- ary therefor. Carried by unanimous vote of the councilmen present. The ordinance creating and establishing certain offices and positions and fixing the range of salary minimum and maximum to be paid such offi- cers and employees was, on motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Fletcher., ordered held over until the August 18, 1941, meeting. Application by C. E. Bunyard, 768 Woodside Road, to hold dances on August 9 and August 16, was approved on motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman McNulty. 0 i On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Christensen, the 3 application far dance permitsto be held by the Recreation Fund Com- mittee on August 23 and September 6 were also approved.
