MINUTES OF REGULAR 14EETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 18, 1941 <br />8:00 P. M. <br />Upon roll call the following were ]'resent: Councilmen L. C. Christensen, E. A. <br />Fletcher, F. D. Granger, G. W. McNulty, W. M. Werder, Mayor -H. F. Anderson, <br />and City Clerk C. W. Eltringham; absent, Councilman H. W. Edmonds. Also <br />Present were City.Manager C. L. Dimmitt, City Attorney Albert'Mansfield, <br />City Collector Nelle L. Miramontes, Chief of Police C. L. Collins, Chief <br />of Fire Department M. E. Ryan, and Superintendent of Parks Roger Walsh, and <br />Building Inspector L. M. Duncan. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of August 4, 1941, and the adjourned regular <br />meeting,of-August 11, 1941, were approved on motion. of Councilman Werder, <br />seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />Application of Redwood City Woman's Club for permission to hold a rummage sale <br />at 872 Main Street on August 21, 22, and 23, was approved on motion of <br />.r <br />Councilman Fletcher', seconded by Councilman Cliristensen. <br />In response to an inquiry by B. J. Smith, 404 Broadway, Friendly Acres, relative <br />to the annexation of that area to the City of Redwood, Mayor Anderson stated <br />that no decision had yet been given by the Appellate Court. <br />Mr. B. J. Smith also spoke in connection with the proposed airport. He stated <br />,. that residents of the Friendly Acres Tract intended to protest the construe" <br />tion of an airport in this area, for the reason that it wouldreduceprop- <br />eity values and also be a nuisance to have student pilots continually flying <br />over their property. Councilmen Werder and Fletcher spoke on this subject, <br />and in line with Councilman Werder's suggestion, a c.ommittee consisting of <br />Councilman Fletcher, chairman, and City Manager Dimmitt, was appointed by <br />the Mayor to meet with and enlist the support of the Board of Supervisors. <br />The City Attorney presented an ordinance regulating the height of fences and walls <br />to 6 feet in height on the rear and side lines of lots up to the set back <br />line, and 4 feet in height between the set back line and the street property <br />line and along the street property line, which was introduced on motion of <br />Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Werder. <br />Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen, proposed the adoption <br />of Ordinance No. 463, "An ordinance creating and establishing certain offices <br />and positions and fixing the range of salary maximum and minimum to be paid <br />to such officers or employees'.
