0 <br />Councilman Edmonds was granted a 90 day leave of absence effective September`'23, <br />1941, and permission to leave the State on motion of Councilman Fletcher, <br />seconded by'Councilman Christensen. . <br />In connection with the reiewal.of Aetna Casualty and Surety Co., Surety No. SB_400767 <br />covering Nelle L. Miramontes, City Collector, it.was directed, on motion of <br />Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Werder, that, this bond be placed <br />through the Cityls regular insurance agent. <br />Claim of E. A. Fletcher in'the amount of 010.00 covering expenses incurred on <br />a trip to Los Angeles in connection with the proposed airport was ordered <br />paid on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Werder. <br />Request of E. W. Paul, D. V. M.,'for permission to hold a national dog week <br />d <br />celebration in Redwood City September 21 to 27 inclusive, was granted, <br />on motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Granger. <br />Application by Golden State Co., Ltd., for restaurant license at 2201 Broadway <br />was approved, subject to inspection by the health department, on motion <br />of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Granger. <br />The matter of traffic -control was discussed. The City Manager was directed <br />to -submit at -the next meeting a report.together with recommendations • <br />of the following: <br />1. Relocation of stop signs on the southwest,corner of Brewster Avenue <br />at the intersection of Broadway. <br />2. Placing stop signs on Grand Street at the intersection of James <br />Avenue. <br />3. Traffic signals at Broadway and El. Camino Real. <br />Intersection of Main and Middlefield Road. <br />5. Intersection of Main and Maple Street. <br />The City 'Manager, on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman <br />Christensen, was authorized to place °Right turn got' sign's at the <br />intersections of Broadway and E1 Camino -Real, and Brewster Avenue and <br />E1 Camino Real. <br />On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by. Councilman Christensen, the City <br />Manager was authorized to proceed with the construction of approximately F <br />150 feet of sidewalks on James Street near the. Southern Pacific Depot; <br />estimated cost, $150.00 <br />The City Manager was directed to contact property owners on the east side of <br />Oakdale Street between Arlington and Whipple. Avenue and on the.south side <br />of Claremont Avenue near E1 Camino Real, relative to construction of a <br />section of sidewalk. <br />Councilman Granger brought up the matter of sidewalks along E1 Camino Real south <br />of Five Points and offered a motion, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, <br />•i <br />35 - <br />i■ <br />
