374 <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 20, 1941 <br />9:00 P. M. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen L. C. Christensen, <br />E. A. Fletcher, F. D. Granger, G. W. McNulty, W. M. Werder, Mayor <br />H. F. Anderson, and City Clerk C. W. Eltringham; absent, Councilman <br />H. W. Edmonds. Also present were City Manager C. L. Dimmitt, City <br />Attorney Albert Mansfield, City Collector Nelle L. Miramontes, Chief <br />of Police C. L. Collins, Chief of Fire Department M. E. Ryan, Build- <br />ing Inspector L. M. Duncan, and Superintendent of Parks Roger Walsh. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting Of October 6, 1941', were approved on <br />motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by.Councilman Christensen. <br />A petition signed by 13 owners or managers of "stones on Broadway between <br />El Camino Real and California Street, protesting the establishment <br />of a loading zone on the south side of Broadway near the Union Oil <br />Co. service station, was read. Leonard K. Lamdan, Joseph Territo <br />and W. T. Maloney spoke on the matter and stated that the merchants <br />did not believe it necessary to have a loading zone in this location, <br />and that diagonal instead of parallel parking should be established <br />in this area.. After considerable discussion and on motion of Coun- <br />cilman Granger, seconded by Councilman McNulty, it was decided to <br />eliminate the present loading zone and to change the method of <br />parking to diagonal on the south side of Broadway between El <br />Camino Real and. California Street, and to establish a loading <br />r <br />zone at the island by the Union Oil Co. service station. Motion <br />carried. <br />Mayor Anderson, then appointed a committee consisting of <br />Councilmen Werder,and Christensen to make a thorough study of the <br />parking situation in this block and to report at the next meeting. <br />A check in the amount of $1,069.41 was accepted from the Recreation Fund <br />Committee in partial payment of advances by the City for the Fourth <br />of July Celebration, on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by <br />Councilman McNulty. Les Wolbert and Ole Oleson explained that this <br />check was not full payment of the statement submitted as the Com- <br />mittee felt certain charges appearing thereon should be assumed by <br />the City. The City Clerk was instructed to submit a detailed re- <br />port on the matter at the next meeting. <br />1 <br />
