1 D On motion.of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the City Collector was authorized to accept the sum of $945.00 from Frank DePatta in full payment of contract dated February 16, 1940, for sale of Lots 1 and 2. Block 4, Jefferson Acres, and application for subdivision of said lots was approved: A letter from United Veterans Council expressing appreciation of the new ceil- ing installed in the Veterans' Hall was ordered filed. A contribution to Woodside Gardeners' Association in the amount of $25.00 was authorized on motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Council- man Fletcher. Permission to hold a rummage sale at 886 Main Street on October 31'and.Novem- ber 1, -1941, -was granted the Catholic Daughters,of.America on motion n of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Werder. A petition signed by five property owners requesting construction of paved roadway and sidewalk on Circle Road was read. The City,Manager statedthat the signers of.the petition did not represent 50% of the owners of property fronting on Circle Road and suggested that since arrangements had been made with the County of San Mateo for correcting the drainage problem, that temporary street improvements be made this time; property owners paying for the material and the.City furnishing the labor and equipment. M.•J. Lovell, a signer of the petition, stated this arrangement would be satisfactory,and°permanent improvements could be undertaken at a later date. Alfred Morton, Director of Recreation, submitted a report coveririg.investi- •.gation of boxing and wrestling matches held by.C. E. Bunyard, 769 Wood- side Road. The report stated that a 15¢ admission.charge was made for attending the boxing and wrestling matches held October 11, 1941, and children, one a grammar school student, were used to put on one of the boxing matches. Also a number of children ranging, from 12 to 16 years of age were in attendance and that hard liquor was served to spectators during the progress of the matches. Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty., then offered a motion directing that Mr. C. E. Bunyard be notified to appear before the Council at its next meeting to show cause why action should not be taken against him for holding.boxing,and Wrestling matches: within the city limits without first having obtained a permit. A motion was then offered by Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Werder, revoking any permit which C. E. Bunyard may hold granting permission to conduct dances in the City. I
