0$4
Councilman Fletcher stated Mr. A. B. Cheatham was willing to permit his
lot fronting on California Street to be used by the City as a
parking lot provided suitable servicing would be made. The City
Manager was then instructed, on motion of Councilman Fletcher,
seconded by Councilman Granger, to confer with Mr. Cheatham and
obtain consent for use of his property in writing, and make the
necessary improvements.
On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, permis-
sion was granted to divide Lot 21, Block A, New High School Acres,
into two lots with 40 feet frontage upon each lot, as recommended
by the Planning Commission.
Councilman Fletcher gave a verbal report on the matter of moving the
Southern Pacific Freight Depot and expressed appreciation to the
Commuters' Club for their efforts in this undertaking. p
The City Manager submitted preliminary plans for widening of El Caminb
Real from end of improvement just completed, Engineers Sta. 431-10,
to southerly city limits, with a letter by Ono. H. Skeggs, District
Engineer, Division of Highways, requesting approval of street open-
ings proposed through center dividing strip.
As the plan submitted showed only one opening, at the inter-
section of Dumbarton Avenue, approval was withheld unless additional
opening be provided at Center Street. The City Manager was also in-
structed to suggest that consideration be given to an opening at
Nottingham Avenue.
Departmental reports were ordered filed.
Approved claims aggregating $39,712.69 were ordered paid.
Adjournment.
