402 <br />Mrs. James Odell of the Rainbow Donut Shop requested permission to place <br />a house trailer for living quarters on property adjoining a resi- <br />dence on Jefferson Avenue near the Railroad tracks. It was ex- <br />plained to Mrs. Odell that living in house trailers, except in <br />designated camping areas, was prohibited by ordinance and on mo- <br />tion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, her <br />request was denied. <br />Harold Philips, 542 Quartz Street, appeared to complain about the use of <br />an adjoining lot for storing lumber and road equipment. This mat- <br />ter was referred to the City Manager,for investigation and report <br />next <br />at the/meeting. <br />Employees of the Pacific Portland Cement Co. were granted permission to <br />hold a children's Christmas party at Foresters Hall on December 23, <br />1941,•on motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Chris- <br />tensen. <br />There was read and ordered filed a letter from Woodside Gardeners Association <br />expressing appreciation for the contribution to their annual Chrysan- <br />themum show. <br />Claim of Alice Madge Foster, 249 East Hopkins, Redwood City, in the amount <br />of $100.00 for injury allegedly sustained on September 5, 1941, on <br />account of defective sidewalk on Maple Street near the Southern <br />Pacific Co. tracks, was denied on motion of Councilman Christensen, <br />seconded by Councilman Werder. <br />Contribution to the Lions' Club Annual Christmas Tree lighting contest in <br />the amount of 025.00 was• approved on motion of Councilman McNulty, <br />seconded by Councilman Werder. <br />Application of Sussman & Woermser Co. for permission to meconstruct the <br />westerly one-half of Heller Street for a distance of about 200 feet <br />in front of their plant with a 611 concrete slab extending from the <br />center of the street to the property line, was unanimously.approved <br />on motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />Councilman Granger stated that although he had voted in favor of <br />granting the permit he wished to go on record as being opposed to <br />the procedure used in presenting the application. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, recom- <br />mendation of the City Manager to grant all employees who had been <br />continuously in service for one year prior to December 1, 1940, an <br />earned sick -leave beginning credit of tyro -weeks as at that date <br />wr.s approved. <br />3 <br />1 <br />
