f� A The claim of Mary E. Devin for damages on account of the death of her son had been received and discussed at a previous meeting, but at this meeting the claim was formally rejected on motion of Councilmen Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McCarthy. The Clerk read a claim for damages filed by Mrs. I. H. Matteson for $1,000 on account of injuries sustained by her when she fell near the corner of E1 Camino Real and Madison Avenue, March 20. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, the claim was formally rejected, and the Clerk asked to notify the claimant accordingly. Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Anderson, proposed the introduction of ordinance changing the meeting place of the Council. Carried. On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the Council concurred in the recommendation of the City Planning Commission to grant permission to Thomas Nelson to re -divide Lots 1, 2 and 3 of Block 2, Oakwood Tract, corner of Roosevelt Avenue and Woodrow Street, in such a way as to form three lots fronting on Woodrow Street. As recommended by the City Planning Commission, the Council, on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Pletcher, granted C. A. Charles permission to erect an auto court at the corner of Beech Street and Broadway. The City Planning Commission submitted a letter indicating that a hearing had been held in regard to re -zoning from the second residential to first residential the area bounded by Avenue del Ora on the southwest, Katherine Street on the northwest, Grand Street and a portion of Fulton Street on the northeast, and Jefferson Avenue on the southwest, and that it was the unanimous agreement of the Planning Commission that the re -zoning be recommended to the City Council. The letter was ordered filed and ordinance was introduced on motion of Councilman Pletcher, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, setting a hearing on this re -zoning matter for June 5 at g P.M. Mr. Enomoto appeared before the Council asking permission to erect green houses facing on Gordon Street, but it was considered that this portion of that community should be considered residential and his request was therefore denied. Angelo Guerra of 330 Buckeye Street was granted permission, on motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman McNulty, to build a garage on one of the three contiguous lots he owns at that address. In connection with the real property owned by the City which it was desired to sell, Council- man Anderson, seconded by Councilman McNulty, proposed adoption of the following resolution: Carried. 43
