y <br />C <br />415 <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />JANUARY 5, 1942 <br />8:00 P. M. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen E. A. Fletcher, <br />F. D. Granger., G. W. .McNulty, W. M. Werder, Mayor H.. F. Anderson, and <br />City Clerk C. W. Eltringham; absent, Councilmen L. C. Christensen, and <br />H. W. Edmonds. Also present Were City Manager G. L. Dimmitt, City <br />Attorney Albert Mansfield, City Collector Nelle L. Miramontes; Chief <br />-of Police C. L. Collins, Chief of Fire Department M•. E. Ryan, Building <br />Inspector L. M. Duncan, Superintendent of Parks Roger Walsh, and Emil <br />Stein representing the Health Department. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of December 15, 1941, were.approved on <br />motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />Letter received from H. H. Weiner relative to moving building on El Camino <br />Real which was to be put on the next meeting's agenda. <br />Letter from Recreation Commission relative to prohibiting fishing at the <br />Yacht Harbor. Fishing ordered prohibited at Yacht Harbor. <br />Letter from C. L. DimTitt, City Manager, appointing Mr. Ralph Case a member <br />of the Parks and Recreation Commission to serve the unexpired term of <br />Helen Ada Smith was approved. <br />Letter from the City Manager stating ,that the term of Thomas W. Cutting'as <br />a member of the Personnel Board of Review expires January 15, 1942, <br />and recommending his reappointment for a term of six years. 'On motion <br />of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by.Councilman Werder, reappointment <br />was approved. <br />Mr. William Gross addressed the Council relative to a permit on the west half <br />of Lot.3, Block 2, Friend Industrial Tract, for a drying plant for potatoes ' Nil, <br />or fertilizer. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman <br />McNulty, the permit was granted subject to approval of the City Manager and ,, <br />Building Inspector, said plant not to be nearer than 100 feet of Bayshore <br />Highway. <br />On motion of Councilman °Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, Southern Paci- <br />fie Company was granted a temporary permit at Spruce Street near Manzanita <br />Street to be operated upon approval of the Health Department, for the <br />housing of construction employees. <br />FEThe Mayor discussed steps being taken in defense matters and the operation of <br />the siren and police and other care during blackouts. <br />
