y C 415 MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL JANUARY 5, 1942 8:00 P. M. Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen E. A. Fletcher, F. D. Granger., G. W. .McNulty, W. M. Werder, Mayor H.. F. Anderson, and City Clerk C. W. Eltringham; absent, Councilmen L. C. Christensen, and H. W. Edmonds. Also present Were City Manager G. L. Dimmitt, City Attorney Albert Mansfield, City Collector Nelle L. Miramontes; Chief -of Police C. L. Collins, Chief of Fire Department M•. E. Ryan, Building Inspector L. M. Duncan, Superintendent of Parks Roger Walsh, and Emil Stein representing the Health Department. The minutes of the regular meeting of December 15, 1941, were.approved on motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. Letter received from H. H. Weiner relative to moving building on El Camino Real which was to be put on the next meeting's agenda. Letter from Recreation Commission relative to prohibiting fishing at the Yacht Harbor. Fishing ordered prohibited at Yacht Harbor. Letter from C. L. DimTitt, City Manager, appointing Mr. Ralph Case a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission to serve the unexpired term of Helen Ada Smith was approved. Letter from the City Manager stating ,that the term of Thomas W. Cutting'as a member of the Personnel Board of Review expires January 15, 1942, and recommending his reappointment for a term of six years. 'On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by.Councilman Werder, reappointment was approved. Mr. William Gross addressed the Council relative to a permit on the west half of Lot.3, Block 2, Friend Industrial Tract, for a drying plant for potatoes ' Nil, or fertilizer. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the permit was granted subject to approval of the City Manager and ,, Building Inspector, said plant not to be nearer than 100 feet of Bayshore Highway. On motion of Councilman °Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, Southern Paci- fie Company was granted a temporary permit at Spruce Street near Manzanita Street to be operated upon approval of the Health Department, for the housing of construction employees. FEThe Mayor discussed steps being taken in defense matters and the operation of the siren and police and other care during blackouts.
