416 <br />On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the Chief <br />of Police was authorized to purchase a suitable machine gun and six <br />high powered rifles~ <br />The traffic survey was continued to the meeting of January 19, 1942. <br />A.report was made on the clean-up campaign and on motion of Councilman <br />Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Werder, owners of property at 631 <br />and 623 Main Street were ordered to appear before the next Council <br />meeting at 7:30 P. M. on January 19, 1942., <br />Alfred Morton appeared and addressed the Council relative to, a band con- <br />cert and community singing and no objection was made thereto. <br />The matter of Jefferson crossing and other crossings was discussed and <br />ordered to be put on the next agenda. <br />The National Motor Bearing Company's sewer was discussed and upon motion <br />of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman McNulty, and carried, <br />an agreement with the County was to be prepared. <br />A letter from the Port Commission signed by Mr. Rudy, Port Manager, was <br />received and upon motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Council- <br />man McNulty, the recommendations named therein were to be carried out, <br />provided, however, that at the Yacht Harbor there should be no guard <br />except during the night hours. <br />The right of way requested by the Pacific Gas & Electric Company was <br />-- <br />ordered granted on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Council- <br />man McNulty and carried. <br />Itemized account of expenditures on defense was to be provided for the <br />next <br />Council at theitAneeting. <br />The matter of taxi fares and the city's authority to regulate the same <br />was put on the next meetings agenda. <br />Claims in the amount of 01.3, 585.47 were authorized to be paid, on motion <br />of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, and carried. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the <br />Council adjourned. <br />CWE:MM <br />C.
