Building Inspector Duncan was directed to obtain the services of a house mover to move the San Mateo County Realty Co. real estate office from its present location on El Camino Real, it being understood the 1 cost would be paid by the San Mateo County Realty Co. City Attorney Mansfield reported that he had written to the California State Railroad Commission relative to the Jefferson'Avenue and Roger Street railroad crossings. After hearing the opinion of the City Attorney advising that the Council could by ordinance regulate the taxi or motor bus fares for service within the corporate limits of the City of Redwood City, it was decided, on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that a committee be appointed to meet with the taxiopera- tors before taking any further action. Mayor Anderson then appointed the following committee to study this matter: C. L. Dimmitt, Chairman F. D. Granger E. A. Fletcher L. C. Christensen The City Clerk was instructed to notify the owners of property at 623 and 631 Main Street of continuance of this matter until February 2, and to ask that they meet with the Council on this date. There was read a letter from Councilman William M. Werd6r calling atten- tion to a real traffic problem existing at the intersection of Bay - shore Highway, Chestnut Street and Harbor Boulevard. Councilman Werder pointed out that at the present time traffic at this inter- section was being handled by an officer with no,other equipment than a red flare; that high speed traffic was encountered at this point; ' that the crossing is not a right angle crossing; that increased business at the Port and Cement Plant would increase the amount of traffic at this intersection. After discussion, it was decided that this matter be referred to the traffic study committee for first consideration and that it submit a recommendation by the next regular meeting. Norman S. Menifee appeared before the Co nncil representing the owners of six out of seven local drug stores and stated his clients,rere de- sirous of changing the hours during which the stores were to be kept open and asked the support of the Council, insofar as possible, to assist in this matter by the passage of an ordinance regulating the hours during; which stores could remain open. The matter was discussed at length and upon advice of City Attorney Mansfield, it was decided to continue it at the next meeting; in the meantime the City Attorney 0 -92 would be able to get copies of similar ordinances passed by other cities.
