LN On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, permission was granted Harry H. Weiner to move the building now located at 225 El Camino Real to Lot 1, Block 1, Lenolt Tract; permission to expire one year from date, and Superintendent of Parks was directed to see that the property is suitably landscaped. Harry H. Weiner addressed the Council and asked for permission to pave Kadota Street under the same conditions as paving has been done on Arguello Street north of Rogers Street.. Permission granted on motion of Council- man Christensen, seconded by Councilman Granger. Mr. Weiner also stated the Federal Housing Authority had recently inquired when other streets in the Lenolt Tract would be paved, and asked if the City would be willing to pay for a portion of the cost of placing red rock thereon. It was felt that red rock would not make a satisfactory street and maintenance costs would be excessive. After considerable discussion, Mr. Weiner withdrew his request. Norman S. Menifee spoke in connection with the proposed closing of stores and stated a petition had been circulated among the merchants along Broadway and was now being circulated on Main Street. Upon advice of the City .% Attorney that the legality of such an ordinance was questionable, it was decided to continue the matter until the next meeting, and in the meantime to ascertain if any other cities had passed such an ordinance. Ferris W. Miles, chairman of the Traffic Study Committee, read a report on the Chestnut Street, Bayshore and Harbor Boulevard intersection,- On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, report was accepted and approved. The City Manager was instructed to submit a copy of the report to the Division of Highways and solicit their co-operation in con- trolling traffic at this intersection. The following matters were referred to the Traffic Study Committee for investigation: 1. Traffic congestion at the intersection of California and Broadway, appar- ently due to left turns. 2. pedestrian lane across Jefferson Street in front of the Post Office. 3`. Pedestrian lane on Main Street between Broadway and Stambaugh. Request of Recreational Director Alfred Morton for permission to hold outdoor boxing matches in Hawes Park was approved on motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Fletcher; it being understood the matches would be supervised by a licensed trainer. The City Attorney was, on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, directed to file a petitiion with the California State Railroad
