FM- IP <br />436 <br />On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman•Granger, it was <br />decided that auxiliary firemen and policemen be given physical ex- <br />amination, provided the support of local doctors can be enlisted.to <br />do the work without compensation, and if not, the matter 'to be <br />r <br />brought up•at the next meeting. <br />Councilman'Fletcher brought up the matter of furnishing the Red Cross <br />with suitable quarters and offered a motion, seconded by Councilman <br />McNulty, directing the City Manager to arrange with Mrs. Thorning <br />and Recreation Director Morton for use of the upstairs portion of <br />the old library building. <br />Authorization to endorse the City's Fire Insurance policies with increase <br />coverage to equal 90% of the present value'.of the property -was granted <br />on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by 'Councilman Werder. <br />Other matters brought up for discussion by Councilman Fletcher were:' <br />placing the nets at the tennis,. courts near the American.Leglon Hall; <br />cleaning of the lot owned by Lillian Kuck at Five Points, and the <br />amount of compensation paid for watchmen at the port. <br />City Manager Dimmitt stated he had hired a watchman at the Yacht Harbor <br />at the rate of $150.00 per month, and had employed watchmen at the <br />City reservoirs at the rate of $6.00 per shift. <br />City Manager Dimmitt agreed, on suggestions from Councilman Granger, to <br />investigate the cost of•obtaln#g bicycle racks: Councilman Granger <br />also brought up the matter of strict enforcement of the bicycle <br />ordinance. <br />Other matters brought up by Councilman Granger were: junk iron and steel at <br />the Corporation Yard; condition of the neon sign at Five Points;.and <br />the alleged neRspaper statement that Redwood City had refused to co- <br />operate with adjoining cities in the operation of the Belmont listening <br />post. <br />Departmental reports were ordered filed. <br />Approved'claims Nos. 1065 to 1113 in the amount of $9,052.75 were ordered <br />-paid. <br />Adjournment. <br />L <br />C.
