Chftstensen, <br />E. A. Fletcherj,F:,D; Granger,-q.'.w:'McNulty,. W."M.'Werddr; Nayor <br />H. F:, Anderson and City Clerk C. W.. Eltringham; ab§ent;,Councilman <br />-H.,,W...Edmonds. .Also present were City Manager C. L: Dimmitt,. Chief <br />of,Fire,D'epartmenV M: E.. Ryan and.Police:Chief''Cr L: Collins. <br />This s;pecial.me:eting was called by.per'mission of bhe councilmen present. <br />Mayor Anderson brought up for discussion -the recommendation of the Civilian. <br />Defense Council that the Chief of the Fire Department be authorized <br />not to respond to calls from alarm boxes, during a blackout. After <br />considerable discussion and on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded <br />by Councilman McNulty, it was decided to hold the matter over until <br />the next regular meeting and in the meantime to secure the reaction <br />of the Board of Fire Underwriters to a proposal that the Fire De- <br />partment arrange for a special duty Fireman with an assistant to act <br />in his absence, to be stationed; during a blackout, at every fire <br />alarm box in the City. Said special duty fireman or his assistant <br />to be in full charge of the transmission of alarms over the system. <br />Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen, then offered a <br />motion directing the Chief of the Fire Department to select a special <br />duty fireman and an assistant to be stationed during a blackout at <br />each fire alarm box in the city. <br />A resolution requesting the Defense Housing Authority to designate the <br />City of Redwood City a "Defense Housing Areae was unanimously adopted <br />on motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Granger. <br />Application of Dude Martin for permission to conduct a public dance on <br />April 4, 1942, was approved on motion of Councilman Fletcher, sec- <br />onded by Councilman Werder. <br />Adjournment. <br />C.
