i <br />C <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 6, 1942 <br />8:00 P.M. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen L. C. Christensen, <br />E. A. Fletcher, F. D. Granger, G. W. McNulty, W. M. Werder, Mayor <br />H. F. Anderson and City Clerk C. W. Eltringham: absent, Councilman <br />H. W. Edmonds. Also present were City Manager C. L. Dimmitt, City <br />Attorney Albert Mansfield, City Collector Nelle L. Miramontes, Police <br />Lieutenant S. D. Wood, Chief of Fire Department M. E. Ryan, Building <br />Inspector L. M. Duncan and Superintendent of Parks Roger Walsh. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of March 16, 194.2, and -special meeting <br />of March 23, 1942,°were approved on motion of Councilman Werder, sec- <br />onded by Councilman Christensen. <br />Ferris W. Miles, Chairman of the Traffic Study Committee, submitted recom- <br />r <br />mendations on specific traffic problems as follows: <br />111. That one-hour (60 minute) parking limits be established on all <br />city -controlled parking lots and that the lots be so posted and <br />policed. This is in reply to your written request of March 17. <br />2. That the present Main Street crosswalk situation be changed by; <br />a. Eliminating the southerly crosswalk at the Main and Stambaugh <br />intersection. This change is sought because pedestrian traffic <br />at this point is small and there ig a crssswalk farther south <br />on Main Street in the middle of the block between Stambaugh <br />and Middlefield, and too many crosswalks ori this Street might <br />bring objections because of Main Street being a State Highway. <br />b. Repaint the northerly crosswalk on the Main and Stambaugh in- <br />tersection to emphasize its use. <br />a. Provide a new crosswalk of standard dimensions on Main Street <br />between Stambaugh and Broadway at the Fire Hydrant just south <br />s <br />of the Ryan Furniture Co. store. This location seems wise <br />because (1) it is midway in a long block and (2) there is a <br />fire hydrant oil the east side and therefore would take away only <br />,' <br />one parking space and that being on the west side on Main Street. <br />This problem was pointed out recently by City Manager Dimmitt. <br />3. That red reflector buttons be placed on the north side of Bayshore <br />Highway opposite the termination of. Main Street. This was the scene <br />of a recent fatal accident and it is believed that the sudden ending <br />of the street without proper signs was partially responsible.' <br />0 <br />ll <br />
