I <br />I <br />t <br />Approval of one hour parking limit on city -controlled parking <br />lots was granted on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by <br />Councilman McNulty. <br />A motion was then offered by Councilman Werder, seconded by <br />Councilman Christensen and carried, approving the remainder of the <br />Committeets recommendations as submitted. <br />The committee then presented a general report recommending that <br />the California State Automobile Association be engaged, at a cost of <br />about $$300.00, to make a general survey, of traffic conditions. It. <br />was decided, on motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman <br />Fletcher, to approve the recommendation and to start the survey as <br />soon as possible. <br />The matter of rezoning Block 1 of Sweeneyts Addition and changing set back <br />lines on Walnut and Maple Streets was, on motion of Councilmarn Christen- <br />sen, seconded by Councilman McNulty, ordered continued until the next <br />meeting. <br />There was read the report of the committee appointed to meet with the Board <br />of Library Trustees relative to the H. W. Schaberg Memorial. The Com- <br />mittee recommended that the sum of $1,250.00 be appropriated from this <br />fund and that the remaining $15,750.00 be invested in United States <br />Government Bonds and that no further expenditures be made from the fund <br />until, accumulated interest had increased the fund to its original amount <br />of $20,000.00. <br />Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen,offered a <br />motion approving the purchase of anew charging desk .at a cost of <br />$1,250.00 and instructing the City Treasurer to invest the balance of <br />' the fund in United States Savings Bonds, 'Se,ries F. <br />Request of the City Treasurer for approval of purchase on October 20, 1941, of <br />$21,100.00 United States Savings Bonds, .Series G, was given on motion of <br />Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen. <br />Permission was granted the Southern Pacific Company to close the Broadway <br />crossing for a period of four days providing the Brewster Avenue cross= <br />ing was first completed and put into a first class condition,.to the <br />satisfaction of the City Manager, on motion of Councilman Werder, <br />Seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />Communication from the City Manager explaining that damage amounting to <br />x$50.00 had been caused by water running from a faucet left open by a <br />water department employee was ordered filed._ <br />A letter from Harry A.
