I <br />The oaths of office of Councilmen H. F. Anderson, Carl A. Britschgi and <br />E. A. Fletcher were ordered filed on motion of Councilman Werder <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />Norman Taylor representing Associated Oil Company tendered an applica- <br />tion for permission to erect a steel paneled 122'x /+2' sign on <br />service station property at the intersection of Bayshore Boulevard <br />and Middlefield Road. During discussion, the City Manager stated <br />that the erection of this sign had been approved by the Planning <br />Commission. Councilman Fletcher seconded by Councilman Werder then <br />offered a motion granting the permission requested, motion carried, <br />Councilmen McNulty and Granger voting "no". <br />Following recommendation of the Planning Commission, Councilman .Werder <br />seconded by Councilman Fletcher offered for introduction an <br />ordinance changing the set -back lines established along Madison <br />Avenue for the N.E. 1/2 of Lot 9 and the S.W. 1/2 of Lot 10 and <br />all of Lots 9, 10, 11 and 12 of Jefferson Acres from 25 feet to <br />15 feet. <br />In connection with the resolution adopted by the City of Belmont which <br />was discussed earlier in the meeting, the Council unanimously <br />decided on motion of Councilman Fletcher seconded by Councilman <br />Britschgi to contribute the sum of $58.21; one-third share of the <br />cost of constructing the observation post, and to pledge its sup- <br />port to furnish volunteers to'assist with the operation of the <br />post. <br />Permission was granted Elmer Gauge to operate a pool room at 2219' <br />Broadway, subject however, to approval by the Police Department, <br />on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Werder. <br />The matter of rezoning Block 1 of Sweeney Addition was ordered continued <br />until the next meeting. <br />Paul A. McCarthy expressed appreciation for granting San Mateo County <br />Historical Association use of the Council. Chambers during the Cityts <br />Diamond Jubilee celebration. <br />Resignation of Emma H. Kalenborn as member of the Board of Library Trustees <br />and the appointment of her successor was ordered held over until the <br />next meeting. <br />Departmental reports were ordered filed. <br />Approved claims numbers 1265 to 1325, inclusive, aggregating $24,173.40 <br />L <br />
