' <br />M <br />The matter of sending a representative•to the Ninth Western Shade <br />Tree Conference at Long Beach on May 7-9 was discussed but no <br />action taken. <br />Permission was granted Redwood City Commuters Club for use of the <br />Council Chambers on May 12, 19L+2 on motion of Councilman Werder <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />q <br />C <br />Application by Cosmo Faloone for restaurant license at 2732 Broadway <br />i <br />was approved on motion of Councilman Granger seconded by Council- <br />man Werder. <br />4 <br />Applications for dance permits by Italian Catholic Federation No. 6 <br />r F <br />{ <br />and Court Madrone No. 158 Foresters of America, to be held on <br />May 23rd and 16th respectively were approved on motion of Council- <br />_ <br />man Fletcher seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />i; <br />There was discussed and referred to the insurance committee and City <br />Attorney for recommendation and report at the next meeting, the <br />� <br />matter of public liability insurance protection carried by bus <br />! <br />lines operating in the City. <br />j } <br />Mayor Anderson announced that he would be unable to continue as Chair- <br />man of the Council and Mayor and submitted his resignation, ef- <br />G <br />festive immediately. Councilman McNulty seconded by Councilman <br />Britschgi then offered a motion, which carried unanimously, ac- <br />I <br />cepting the resignation. <br />' Following acceptance of Councilman Anderson's resignation as Chairman <br />s the City Clerk called for nominations for a new Chairman. Council- <br />man Britschgi nominated Councilman Fletcher and Councilman Anderson <br />nominated Councilman Werder. Motion to close nominations was made <br />i r <br />by Councilman McNulty seconded by Councilman Britschgi,, On roll <br />jcall vote each nominee received three votes; Councilmen Britschgi, <br />Granger and Fletcher in favor of Councilman Fletcher and Council- <br />! <br />k men Anderson, McNulty and Werder in favor of Councilman Werder. <br />i Suggestion of the Clerk that a committee be appointed to nominate <br />a candidate for Chairman was declined.
