476 <br />t <br />i <br />of a general traffic survey being conducted by the California State <br />Auto Association. <br />Chief of Police Collins reported that the warehousing and distribution <br />of food products was no longer being carried on from 228 Elwood <br />Street. <br />Permission was granted Mr. Hill, purchaser of property at 897 Redwood <br />Avenue, to.make improvements to the building and to use a foundation <br />of Redwood sills in lieu of concrete and that impending abatement <br />proceedings be dropped, on motion of Councilman Fletcher seconded <br />by Councilman Anderson. <br />Matter of Jefferson Avenue railroad crossing was ordered placed on the <br />Agenda for the next meeting. <br />Building Inspector Duncan reported that progress was being made in <br />remodeling the exterior of the Eilerst house on Jefferson Avenue. <br />Civilian Defense Ordinance was ordered placed on the Agenda for the <br />next meeting. <br />Resolution authorizing National Motor Bearing Company to erect a fence <br />across Broadway in the vicinity of their plant was unanimously <br />adopted on motion of Councilman Werder seconded by Councilman <br />Anderson. <br />Permission was granted Redwood City Women's Club to hold a Rummage Sale <br />at 872 Main Street on August 27, 28 and 29th on motion of Council- <br />man Fletcher seconded by Councilman Werder. <br />Sketch of City Seal to be used as an insignia on City -owned equipment <br />was approved on motion of Councilman Anderson seconded by Council- <br />man McNulty. <br />Resolution accepting Quit -Claim deed from I. N. & M.D. Stage was <br />unanimously adopted on motion of Councilman Fletcher seconded by <br />Councilman Anderson. <br />Permission to hold a public dance was granted the Order of De Molay, <br />subject however to filing application, on motion of Councilman <br />Anderson secondbd by Qouncilman Fletcher. <br />City Manager. Councilman Fletcher offered the name of Mark Larwood and <br />recommended his appointment as City Manager. Lengthy discussion <br />ensued, during which a motion by Councilman Britschgi seconded by <br />Councilman Hilton that the appointment of a City Manager be held <br />over until the first regular meeting in September and the final <br />date for receiving applications for the position be set at 7:55 P.M. <br />le <br />PA <br />MM <br />
