56 <br />He indicated the choice as the O'Dea property, some 20 acres between <br />Bayshore Highway and Chestnut Street. Councilman McCarthy, seconded <br />by Councilman Fletcher, proposed that a committee be appointed to <br />work out the details, as it was thought feasible to put through the <br />program gradually. The Mayor appointed on the committee, in addition <br />to himself, the City Manager, the City Attorney, and Dan Stafford. <br />There was some discussion concerning the proposed first aid station at <br />.the Yacht Harbor, but no action was taken. The local Kiwanis Club <br />had indicated that it had endorsed the proposed station. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, resolu- <br />tion was adopted accepting deed from C. B. Calkins and Mrs. Isabella j <br />j <br />Calkins for Lots 11 and 12 in Block 2, West Redwood. <br />The City Manager submitted the following letter under date of June 16, 1939: <br />"In company with Por. James H. Mitchell, the architect, I <br />have today inspected the work done by the Frank J. Reilly <br />Company in the execution of the contract for construction <br />of the City Hall, P.W.A. Project No. Calif. 1991-F. <br />We find the same completed in accordance with the plans <br />and specifications and recommend the acceptance." <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, <br />the Council concurred in the recommendation of the Manager and the <br />architect and formally accepted the work. <br />The City Manager submitted the following letter: <br />"Rucker -Fuller Company have delivered all furniture and <br />equipment for the City Hall, P.W.A. Contract No. 1991-F, <br />No. 2 -Eq, in accordance with their agreement under date <br />of January 18, 1939- <br />1 recommend your acceptance." <br />On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman McNulty, <br />the Council concurred in the Manager's recommendation. <br />On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hohn, per- <br />mission was given to Andrew Sifuentes, 912 Arguello Street, to <br />show for entertainment and advertising purposes camera slides <br />and moving pictures on the walls of the Poppy Bakery at Main <br />Street between Pine and Chestnut Street, provided that a fence <br />be built around the projector so that no part of the fence would <br />be less than 10 feet from the projector. <br />Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, moved that the <br />bid of Webster Welbanks in the sum of $400 to purchase Lot 5, <br />Block F, Boyd and Kent Tract, be accepted.
