J <br />III14UTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />JULY 3, 1939 <br />8:00 P.M. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen H. F. Anderson, <br />Wm. Hohn, R. N. Jones, P. A. McCarthy, Mayor L. C. Christensen, and <br />City Clerk B. E. Myers. Absent, E. A. Fletcher and G. w. McNulty. <br />The minutes of the meeting of June 19 were approved on motion of Councilman <br />IrcCarthy, seconded by Councilman Anderson, with instructions to elimi- <br />nate -Councilman Hohn's voting "No" in connection with the adoption of <br />Map No. 1 of Broadway. <br />Mayor Christensen reappointed Dr. N. C. Cummings and Sanford Dole as members <br />of the Board of Trustees of the Redwood City Public Library for the <br />ensuing term, the appointment being ratified by the Council on motion <br />of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hohn. <br />The City Manager submitted correspondence concerning a bond held by Mrs. <br />Shea of San Francisco, and he was told that the Council did not <br />feel like accepting Mrs. Shea's proposal and that the city would have <br />to abide by the price already set. This on motion of Councilman <br />Anderson, seconded by Councilman Jones. <br />It was decided, on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman <br />Jones, to rescind permission given to Andrew Sifuentes of 912 Arguello <br />Street, to show slides and moving pictures for advertising purposes, <br />with instructions to refund any money he may have paid for license <br />fees. <br />On motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, the <br />Council accepted bid of E. J. Chandler, 1904 Roosevelt Avenue, $300, <br />for Lot 1, Block 1, Resub. of Block 29, 1-1. W. & M. He agreed to <br />pay 0125 and $10 a month with the understanding that the entire <br />balance would be paid vrithiri one year, the unpaid balance bearing <br />interest at 6 percent. The City Attorney was authorized to draw <br />up the necessary papers. <br />Bid of H. A. and Adeline Methvin, 39 Oxford Street, in the sum of 0300 <br />for Lots 69 and 70, Block 4, Redwood Oaks, was accepted on motion <br />of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Anderson, with the <br />understanding that $100 would be the down payment, 6 percent interest <br />on unpaid balance, entire amount to be paid by July 11 1940, with <br />payments of $10 a month until that time. The City Attorney was <br />instructed to draw up the necessary papers. <br />A letter was submitted from the Chamber of Commerce recommending that not <br />to exceed $100 be taken from the city advertising fund for the <br />expense of the Redwood City 4th of July celebration.
