MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />SEPTEMBER 5, 1939 <br />5:00 P.14. <br />Upon roll call, the following were present: Councilmen H.F. Anderson, <br />Wm. Hohn, R.N. Jones, P.A. McCarthy, G.W. McNulty, Mayor L.C. <br />Christensen, and City Clerk B.E. Myers; absent, Councilman E.A. <br />Fletcher. <br />The minutes of the meeting of August 21 were approved on motion of <br />Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Anderson. <br />W. H. Sadler, of 1712 E1 Camino Real, asked permission to construct <br />his building back to the full length of the lot. On motion of <br />Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the Build- <br />ing Inspector was instructed to issue such a permit. <br />The Tax Collector submitted the following letter: <br />"Mayor Christensen and City Manager Dimmitt recom- <br />mended that the sum of $157.55 be accepted in <br />settlement of the charges on the following prop- <br />erty instead of $166.56 actually due if the total <br />amount was paid in full. The property referred to <br />is Arbitrary Block 155, Lots 20, 21, 22 and 23 or <br />legal description - Lots 1, 2, 3 and 4 less portion <br />in Hudson Street, Block C, Oakvilla Homestead Addition <br />assessed in the name of A. & V. Gerwin. <br />Delinquent Taxes 7!4•.21 <br />Delinquent Weed Tax 9.95 <br />Tax Penalties- Costs 27.37 <br />Delinquent Reso. M-5 35.00 <br />Attorney fee etc. 20.00 <br />X166.56 <br />A check has been received from the San Mateo County <br />Title Company for $166.56, refund to be made to Miss <br />Geri -Tin. Please authorize me to accept the above." <br />The requested authorization was given on motion of Councilman <br />McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Jones. <br />Joe Goertzhain of 420 Heller Street asked what arrangement could be made <br />to enable him to peddle flowers about Redwood City. It was decided <br />that no particular clause of the business ordinance covered this <br />and he was given permission to sell flowers as indicated under <br />a general provision of $3.00 a quarter. <br />J. L. Ross of the Ross Garage, 531 Winslow Street, asked permission to <br />display not over three used cars at any one time on a lot adjacent <br />to the Gilmore Oil Station, corner of Hopkins Street and El Camino <br />Real. Permit was granted on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded <br />by Councilman Anderson. <br />1 <br />0 <br />
