IJ <br />E <br />The City Manager submitted the following letter. <br />"Foster and Kleiser have a five-year lease on the O'Dea <br />property fronting on the Bayshore Highway and have two signs <br />erected within the line of the proposed twenty -five -acre pur- <br />chase by the city for a recreation park. One of the existing <br />signs on the west side of the highway is inside the lines of <br />the recent annexation. <br />Foster and Kleiser propose to release the portion pur- <br />chased by the city from their lease provided the city will <br />allow the present sign to be moved and rebuilt outside the <br />lines of the recreation park on the O'Dea property. I would <br />recommend that such an agreement be approved." <br />On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, the <br />Council concurred in his recommendation and approved the agreement. <br />The Clerk read letters from the California Mission Trails Association and <br />the Bel Canto Chorus of Redwood City. <br />In a letter to the Council, Charles C. Gans, Director of the San Mateo County <br />Department of Public Health, asked whether or not the County Department <br />in taking over the health activity for Redwood City had performed the <br />service satisfactorily. The Clerk was instructed to write Dr. Gans <br />that there was no dissatisfaction with the work of the department, but <br />Kofi_ <br />Councilmen Fletcher and Hohn voted "No" to such instruction. EAt meet- <br />ing of October 16 the vote was changed to 3 to 3, Anderson stating that <br />he had voted "No" with Councilmen Fletcher and Hohn <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, Estella <br />A. Fahlbusch was given permission to conduct a tea room at 619 Hamilton <br />Street. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the Clerk <br />was instructed to write the Burlingame Chamber of Commerce that the <br />Council was in sympathy with the resolutions passed by that body. <br />A. F. Gaidos of 724 Hopkins Avenue wrote the Council a letter concerning the <br />advisability of having a police department with a two-way radio system. <br />Mr. Harry L. Elleen, representing the Veterans of Foreign Wars, also <br />submitted a resolution by that body advocating the two-way radio for <br />the police cars. It was brought out in the discussion that this matter <br />had already been given consideration and would, be followed up, and the <br />Clerk was instructed to write Mr. Gaidos to that effect. <br />Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman IdcNult,y, proposed adoption of <br />Ordinance No. 428 approving the annexation of the Friendly Acres District <br />to the City of Redwood City. Carried. <br />In connection with <br />the Cedar <br />Street <br />opening, there <br />was some <br />discussion, but <br />11 the committee <br />planned to <br />make <br />a more complete <br />report at <br />the next meeting. <br />ami <br />
