N.J <br />0 <br />requirements and on motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman <br />.McNulty, permit was granted. <br />City Attorney McCarthy received letter from 1.1r. H. H. Weiner, requesting permission to <br />keep the old building on Arguello and D Streets until such time as he has com- <br />pleted construction of some 18 or 20 defense homes. After considerable discuss- <br />ion, Mr. McCarthy was directed to write Mr. Weiner informing him that the City. <br />intends to proceed with condemnation proceedings, giving him 30 days to remove <br />the building, on motion of Councilman Armstrong, seconded by Councilman Hilton. <br />Matter of -removal -of real estate office building on -Center Street and El Camino Real <br />was discussed. City'Building Inspector Duncan explained that he had.been <br />advised that the building would be moved some time ago, however nothing has been <br />done to date. Councilman Armstrong offered resolution, seconded by Councilman <br />Hilton, declaring the building a public nuisance and City Attorney was directed <br />to notify the owners. Notion carried unanimously on roll call. <br />The annexation of Red Feather Products Co. property ordered placed on the agenda for <br />the next meeting to enable time to elapse to allow for one more publication of <br />t proposed ordinance. <br />incilman Armstrong moved the introduction of the subdivision ordinance, seconded by <br />Councilman Anderson. Under the question, Councilman Britschgi discussed with - <br />City Attorney the program of street signs to be adopted. City Attorney advised <br />that the Planning Commission was considering uniform posts and signs which would <br />not be available until after the war. Motion -carried unanimously on roll call. <br />Councilman Fletcher noted absent. <br />Proposed electrical appliance ordinance was discussed, it being noted that the . - <br />Merchants Committee of the Chamber of Commerce was agreeable providing the City <br />and County=Building Inspectors and the City Attorney were in favor of same. On <br />motion of Councilman Armstrong, seconded by Councilman McNulty; City Attorney <br />was instructed to prepare ordinance along the lines of the model submitted by <br />the -Pacific Coast Electrical Association for presentation at the next meeting. <br />City Attorney McCarthy reported, that he had,britten Mr. Martin, proprietor of Redwood <br />City Bus Line, requesting,him to have.finaheial report in his office by Friday, <br />August 13th, for submission to the'Council, however no reports have been received <br />to date. City Attorney was directed to check with the Railroad Commission in an <br />. <br />•effort to learn if and when franchise *Iould be allowed covering the bus line <br />operated in Redwood City and to San'Carlos. Matter placed on the agenda for next <br />meeting. <br />City Manager Mead recommended to the Council that both a'bear flag and an American <br />flag be flown from the marque over the front entrance of the City Hall. On motion <br />of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, City Manager was in- <br />structed to proceed along those lines. <br />On motion of Councilman Hilton, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the budget for this <br />city for the fiscal year 1943-44, as prepared and submitted by City Manager Mead, <br />was unanimously approved and adopted. <br />Ordinance fixing tax rate for 1943-1944 was introduced on motion of Councilman Arm - <br />strong, seconded by Councilman McNulty, carried on roll call. <br />u <br />15 <br />Em <br />
