Eltringham, C• y Clerk <br />MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />SEPTEMBER 28, 1942 <br />8:00 P.M. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen H. F. Anderson, C. A. <br />Britschgi, E. A. Fletcher, W. W. Hilton, Louis Jenkins, Jr., G. W. McNulty, <br />Mayor F. D. Granger, and City Clerk C. W. Eltringham. <br />The following bids were received for construction of storm drainage facilities on <br />Broadway -Perry Street and James Avenue: <br />L. C. Smith $3,402.35 <br />W. 0. Tyson 3,525.00 <br />Peter Sorensen 4,278.30 <br />Resolution awarding contract to L. C. Smith for the sum of $3,402.35 was un - <br />animously adopted on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman <br />Britschgi. <br />Sequoia Thimble Club was granted permission to hold a bazaar at 2417 Broadway on <br />November'5 and 6 on motion of_Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman <br />McNulty. <br />Communication from U. S. Treasurery Department relative to payroll savings plan for <br />City employees was read and ordered filed. <br />Communication from Erma R. McClure, Auxiliary Secretary, Capt. H. J. Reilly Auxil- <br />iary No. 70, United Spanish War Veterans, inviting members of the City Council <br />to attend a public installation of officers on October 13 was read and ordered <br />filed. <br />Ca <br />Report of Committee appointed by the Mayor to meet with the County Planning Commis- <br />sion relative to unified planning was read. Following discussion it was decides <br />that the secretary of the Peninsula Division, League of California Cities be <br />asked to place on the agenda of the next division meeting the matter of a <br />county -wide planning program. <br />Communication from Ferris W. Miles, Chairman, Vital War Transportation Conservation <br />Committee, asking that an appropriation in the amount of $100.00 be set aside <br />to meet expenses of the committee for the period ending June 30, 1943, was ap- <br />proved on motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />Mayor Granger stated in reply to request that the chairman of the Vital War Trans- <br />portation Conservation Committee be appointed as a member of the local Defense <br />Council, that the recently adopted Civilian Defense Ordinance automatically <br />made the chairman of all war activity committees a member of the Defense <br />Council. <br />K <br />
