MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 4t 1943 <br />t; 8:00 P. M. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen H. F. Anderson, C. C. Armstrong; <br />C. A. Britsch i E. A. Fletcher W. W. Hilton G. W. McNulty, <br />g', , , y, Mayor F. D. Granger <br />and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were City Manager R. W. Mead, City <br />, <br />W, <br />Attorney P. A. McCarthy, Police Chief 0. L. Collins, Fire Chief Psi. E. Ryan, <br />Superintendent of Streets H. L. Winter, Building Inspector L. M. Duncan, City <br />Collector N. L. Miramor_tes,and Health Inspector Royal Hodge. <br />Minutes of meeting of September 20th were approved on motion of Councilman Britschgi, <br />seconded by Councilman McNglty. <br />Application for.dance permit filed by Eldon'Algeo for October 6th and 13th was granted <br />on motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />Application for dance permit received from Court Madrone 155, F. of A. for October <br />• <br />9th and 16th granted on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman <br />McNulty. <br />Communication received from the National War Fund and Community Chest requesting per- <br />mission to hold servicemen's entertainment and dance at the high school gymnasium <br />on October 9th granted on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman <br />Fletcher. <br />Communication received from C. L..Fisher, 397 Eastcourt, San Jose, inquiring whether <br />or not council would grant a permit to raise from. 3000 to 5000 turkeys on two ti <br />acre tract in Friend Industrial area. After considerable discussion, Councilman <br />Anderson, seconded by Councilman McNulty moved to refer the request to the Health <br />Department for further consideration. <br />Communication received from American Legion Auxillary No. 105, requesting permission <br />to conduct a rummage sale on October 15th and 16th. Request granted on motion of <br />Councilman Armstrong, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />Communication received from Annie Offermann complaining about odors coming from man- <br />ufacture of various types of animal and poultry food from the Garden City Produce <br />Company on Main Street. On motion of Councilman Hilton, seconded by Councilman <br />Anderson, this matter was to be referred to the Health Department for a report <br />at the next council meeting. <br />Request for permission to conduct a rummage sale on October 29th and 30th granted to <br />Court Mount Carmel No. 1213, Catholic Daughters of America, on motion of Council- <br />man Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty. + <br />Telegram from John Z. Anderson, M. C., dated September 29th, addressed to Mayor <br />Granger advising of presidential approval War Public Service Praject Cal -4-M-337 <br />with Federal contribution $5963 for maintenance and operation of recreational <br />facilities of service men and war workers, period October 1, 1943, through June <br />30, 1944, read into the official records. <br />City Attorney McCarthy submitted affidavit of Building Inspector L. M. Duncan cert- <br />ifying that abatement notices had been amiled and posted to Mr. and Mrs. Miraglia <br />covering abatement of bootblack stand next to 2069 Broadway. Mr. and Mrs. <br />Miraglia appeared before the council explaining that they had a chance to rent <br />a <br />
