Councilman Anderson offered a resolution ordering the. <br />abatement of the building,' seconded by Councilman McNulty. Carried on roll ca11. <br />Mites. Henry Adamson appeared before the council asking permission to remodel a garage <br />building into a three room apartment on Nevada Street. Councilman Armstrong <br />moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson that permit be refused on the grounds <br />that this section was in the first residential area. <br />Councilman Armstrong reported on recent meeting with the Redwood City Bus Line owner <br />and attorney, at which time sufficient information was not submitted. Another <br />-meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 13th and additional information will <br />be forthcoming. This matter will be reported on at the meeting of October 15. <br />Affidavit of publication of electrical appliances ordinance was ordered filed on. <br />4 9, motion of Councilman Britsbhgi, seconded by Councilman Anderson. Councilman <br />McNulty offered adoption of the electrical appliances ordinance, seconded by <br />Councilman Britschgi. "Under the question, Councilman Armstrong stated that he <br />would vote against the adoption as, in his opinion, such. an ordinance was wholly <br />unnecessary and was a. legalized method of stifling competition.of small manufac- <br />turers. Councilman Hilton stated he would vote against the ordinance for the <br />same reason. On roll call the following vote was .noted: byes: Councilman <br />Britschgi, Mayor Granger. Noes: Councilmen Anderson, Armstrong, Fletcher, <br />Hilton and McNulty. <br />- City Attorney McCarthy stated that the League of California Municipalities <br />Convention had -scheduled a discussion of this ordinance and suggested that the <br />matter be laid over until after the convention. Councilman Anderson changed <br />his vote from Nay to ,Aye and moved that the matter lay over until the first <br />meeting in November. 'Thies -motion was seconded by Councilman Fletcher and carried. <br />Communication received from H. H. Weiner advising that he had rented equipment from <br />a moving concern and would have the service station moved before October 10, <br />1943. City Attorney McCarthy advised that he had prepared a resolution ordering <br />.the removal of the building at the property owner's expense. This resolution <br />was offered by Councilman Armstrong, .seconded by Councilman Fletcher, instruct- <br />ing the Building Inspector to Proceed with the removal on October 11, 1943. <br />Motion carried on roll call. <br />City Manager Mead reported on matter of receiving bids for Drainage - Redwood Creek <br />Channels Project. Bids were opened October 4th at 3:00 P.M. in his. office. <br />Bids were received as follows: <br />L. C. Smith 336.20 <br />Peter Sorensen 4627.50 <br />The latter bid exceeded the Engineerls estimate by $113.50. City Manager Mead <br />recommended the contract be awarded to Mr. Sorensen. Councilman Fletcher offered <br />resolution, seconded by Councilman Anderson. Carried 'on roll call. <br />City Manager Mead advised the council of receipt of a letter from the Bank of America <br />reducing inactive account from $100,000 to 050,000.
