11 <br />I <br />I <br />Inspector Hodge recommended granting permit providing, all Redwood City standards <br />are met. <br />Clerk presented a petition signed by approximately 5a citizens residing in <br />the neighborhood protesting the granting of a permit. After hearing, Mr. Bunyard <br />elaborate somewhat upon the.report of the Health Dept,, Councilman Fletcher <br />moved denial of application, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, Councilman <br />Britschgi.stated he would vote against.the permit inasmueh.as he .did not approve,_ <br />of trailer camps within the city. Motion denying the permit carried unanimously, <br />Inspector Hodge reported he had contacted Mrs, Fischer in regard tq'application for <br />permit to raise turkeys in the Friend Industrial Tract and that she had stated <br />she understood Mr, Fischer had dropped the matter. Dropped from agenda, <br />Fatter of appointment of Citizens War 'Memorial Committee was next considered, and 'the <br />following Councilmen announced their choice for members of the committee: <br />Councilman Bristchgi Fred Walker <br />Fletcher Ferris Miles <br />McNulty Clifton Woodham <br />Anderson James Hedge <br />Armstrong Ross Winchester_ <br />Hilton,' T. M. Cole <br />Granger Otis Carrington <br />Magor Granger will call a. meeting in the near future at which 'time committee, <br />will be,organized, On :motion .of Councilman Fletcher., seconded by.Councilman <br />McNulty,. City Manager.Mead. and City Attorney McCarthy will be ex -officio members <br />of the committee to act in any advisory capacity, <br />Councilman Armstrong reported on the Martin Bus Line .matter. Note has been received <br />signed by both Mr. & Mrs. Martin, and payments will commence on November 20th. <br />.City Manager Mead reported that inasmuch as Fourth War Loan'would be instituted in <br />January, 19449 and also that there are but few series available at present, he <br />recommended waiting until then before investing City funds in government <br />securities. On motion of.Councilman Britsohg1j seconded by Councilman Fletcher, <br />matter placed on agenda for.lst meeting in January, 1944, <br />Electrical appliance ordinance. Councilman Anderson moved adoption, .seconded by <br />Councilman Britschgi. Councilman Armstrong stated he would vote against the <br />ordinance as he had previously inasmuch as he cannot see the necessity of such an <br />ordinance, there being no record of injuries .or fatalities from defective <br />appliances. Fire Chief Ryan, in answer to questions, stated he knew -6f -no troubl <br />I from faulty appliances, and had no knowledge of any fires in Redwood City from <br />that cause. On roll call, Councilmen Anderson, Britsohg3, McNulty and Mayor <br />Granger voted yes; and Councilmen Armstrong, Fletcher and Hilton voted.no. <br />Councilman Armstrong offered introduction of ordinance as amended setting aside <br />$25,000..00 for Post -War Program. Ordinance sets aside the fund for -a specific <br />purpose, which purpose cannot be changed except by vote of the people. Councilmaji <br />McNulty seconded the Introduction and motion carried unanimously, <br />City Manager Mead reported he had received approval of Mr, Spinas, School SuperintendeiAt <br />to place bicycle racks on Middlefield Road next to Central School building. He <br />also recommended additional racks on Reinhard corner, stating that with these <br />additional provisions, bicycle situation could be cleaned up. On motion of <br />Councilman Armstrong, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, Mr. Mead was authorized <br />to proceed. <br />R <br />
