Councilman McNulty, offered resolution,.seconded by Councilman Anderson requesting <br />state aid in Personnel in War Service,, telephone and supplies expenses <br />amounting to. $1,734,00. Carried unanimously on roll call. <br />Matter, of changing parking limits on certain streets placed on agenda for next <br />meeting. <br />City Attorney McCarthy advised the Council that he had written the National <br />Municipal Assn. in Washington, D. C., asking them to appoint a representative <br />for the city to attend a hearing in Philadelphia on November 9th in connection <br />with the Ruellan damage suit in an attempt to recover a part of the money spent <br />by the City at a hearing of the receivers of the Insurance Co. .in which the <br />City was insured, <br />In response to Mayor Grangerls suggestion, City Attorney will notify owner to clean <br />up the Gunning property at Heller and Cassia Streets, advising that if he did <br />not do so, City would clean the premises at owners expense.. <br />Mayor Granger commented on the matter of allowing City employees to accept part- <br />time work in war industry. After discussion, the matter was placed on the <br />agenda for next meeting. <br />Mayor Granger brought up matter of curfew ordinance and juvenile problems, stating <br />that juveniles were congregating in front of stores and:soda fountains in the <br />early evening to the detriment of the merchants.. Councilman Fletcher concurred <br />In the Mayor's remarks, and stated he believed some program should be worked out <br />to keep the youngsters off the streets. This problem is one effecting the <br />r entire community which should be-studied:to the end that some program be worked <br />up to relieve the situation, perhaps in conjunction with the school authorities. <br />Mayor Granger suggested that a Finance committee be appointed to recommend on all <br />financial matters of the City, asking that Councilmen give the matter consider- <br />ation for further discussion at the next meeting. <br />Councilman Anderson stated boat owners at the Harbor were having difficulty in <br />having their boats taken care of on the DeHoff ways., He suggested that City <br />Manager Mead check into the matter. <br />Councilman Britschgi asked if 'anything had been done about dumping foreign matter <br />into the creek by Beeger Tannery, suggesting that City Manager Mead contact <br />Mr. H. A. Beeger to secure his co-operation. . <br />Suggested resolution concerning State War Council Bulletin #19, concerning workmen!s <br />compensation insurance be referred to War Council for consideration. <br />Claim$ #3299 to 3335 totaling $13094.690 approved for payment on motion of Council- <br />man McNulty, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />Adjournment, <br />R.
