r)J <br />I <br />four meetings which have been attended by almost everyone on the committee. Mr. <br />Hedge also thanked the Council for giving the committee the help of City Manager <br />Mead and City Attorney McCarthy. He introduced Mr. Otis Carrington who present- <br />ed the aims and objectives of the committee which were adopted at the eommitteeis <br />meeting of this date. <br />The aims of the committee: I, <br />1. To plan and encourage the erection of a suitable memorial, <br />in the form of an auditorium, in memory and appreciation of <br />those who have nobly lived and died in defense of our c6untX7, <br />2. To emphasize that this memorial be practical and accessible, <br />not only for our veterans but also for our youth organizations <br />and the general public. <br />3. To seek the whole -hearted cooperation and support of the <br />citizens of our city and county in the fulfillment of these <br />aims and objectives. ' <br />The objectives of the committee: <br />V <br />1. Organization <br />Selection of chairman and secretary <br />adoption of aims and objectives <br />2. Determine the facilities required for the various interests <br />of the community. Capacity of auditorium and auxiliary= <br />meeting halls, kitchen, etc. Requirements and municipal <br />organizations, if any. <br />3. Inspect similiar buildings in nearby cities and interview <br />citizens on management, financing, and building and operating. <br />4. Invite comment from local citizens and organizations and <br />coordinate all constructive suggestions. <br />5. Determine availability and suitability of sites with respect <br />to accessibility, parking facilities, growth of city, etc. <br />6. Determine methods of financing authorized by law and <br />possibility of funds other than taxes. <br />7. Possible expansion of facilities with adjoining cities. <br />8. To submit to the City Council a summary of conclusions from <br />the foregoing study. <br />9. When authorized by the City Council to confer with architects, <br />obtain preliminary plans and estimates of cost. <br />10. Recommend site, final building plans and plan of financing <br />to City Council. F <br />11.• To serve our community in the furtherance of this project <br />until the auditorium is dedicated. <br />Councilman Anderson moved, seconded by Councilman Pletcher, that the aims and <br />objectives as read by Mr. Carrington be adopted. Under the question, Councilman <br />Britschgi asked if the committee did not need some money in order to operate. <br />Mr. Hedge informed Councilman Britschgi that he had already conferred with Mr. <br />Mead on that subject. It was the opinion of Mayor Granger that the time would <br />come when a fund would be ordered for the committee. The motion was carried <br />unanimously. <br />Affidavit of publication calling for bids for leasing of band instruments was, ordered <br />filed on motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman McNulty. On call <br />of roll, motion passed unanimously. <br />City Clerk R. S. Dodge read letter from City Manager dead advising that bids for <br />the leasing of municipal band instruments were opened today, December 6, at <br />5:00 P- Pd. The only bid received was from the 128th Naval Construction Battali <br />Camp Parks, California, accompained by certified check in the amount of $10.00. <br />„ <br />t, <br />
