S. Dodge, City Clerk <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITYCOUNCIL <br />JANUARY 30 1944 <br />9:00 P M. <br />`Upon roll calls the following were present: Councilmen H. F. Anderson, C. C. Armstrong, <br />C. A. Britsehgis E. A. Fletcher, W. W. Hilton,'G. W. MdNulty,'Mayor F. D. Granger <br />and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were: City Manager R. V.- Mead,' <br />J <br />'City Attorney Paul A. McCarthy, Building Inspector L. M. Duncan, Police Chief <br />C. L. Collins, Fire Chief M. E. Ryan, Street Superintendent L. M. Winter and <br />Health Inspector Roygl Hodge. <br />Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as mailed on,motion of Councilman, <br />Britschgis seconded by Councilman Armstrong. <br />Application for permit to conduct a rummage sale on January 21, 1944, at 824 main St. <br />was received from Noire Dame Institute No'. 124, Young Ladies' Institute.- Permit <br />was granted on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Brit9chgi. <br />City Clerk Dodge read communication from James Thornton, Director of the local Red <br />Cross, expressing appreciation for cooperation received from the City during the <br />year 1943- Communication was ordered filed. <br />Application for restaurant permit was received from Helen ,F. Hieberg for Heiberg's <br />Redwood Bowl. Beer license has been applied for and $10.00 license fee to June <br />30, 1944, has been paid. Permit was granted subject to Health Department <br />inspection on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />Application for dance permit was received from George Solari for Court Madrones F. of <br />'A. for dances to be held Saturday, January 8th and 15ths until 1:00 A. M. On <br />motion of Councilman McNulty_; seconded by Councilman Anderson, permit was granted. <br />Application for dance permit received from Harold Fredericks representing the organ— <br />ization formerly operated by Eldon Algeo, for dances to be held Wednesday, <br />January 5th and 12th until 12:00 M. license fee having been paid. Councilman <br />Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong that permit begranted. Under ItE <br />the questions Mayor Granger asked the Chief of Police If he had any report to <br />make on this applicant, to which Chief Collins replied that he did not know him. <br />Mr. George Solari, addressed the Council advising them that Mr. Frederick has <br />been the band leader at the dances since July, 1943, that he knows the rules and <br />regulations pertaining to danc-e6 and that hat he Is a responsible character. -Motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />I <br />
