MINUTES.OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 19, 1942 <br />,8:00 P.M. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen H. F. Anderson, C. A. <br />Britschgi, E. A. Fletcher, W. W. Hilton, Louis Jenkins, G. W. McNulty, Mayor <br />F. D. Granger and City Clerk C. W. Eltringham. Also present were City Attor- <br />ney P. A. McCarthy, City Collector N. L. Miramontes, Chief of Police C. L. <br />�'. <br />Collins, Chief of Fire Department M. E. Ryan, Building Inspector L. M. Duncan <br />and Acting City Engineer R. J. Clarke. <br />Communication from Carl E. Ward, Chairman, Advance Gifts Committee of the Community <br />Chest, was read and on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman] <br />Britschgi, the sum of $350.00 was ordered paid to the Community Chest as the <br />City4-s contribution for the current year. <br />Communication from Roscoe Wyatt, Secretary of the Traffic Study Committee, advising <br />of the appointment of new members to the Committee was read and ordered filed. <br />Communication from Elizabeth Badger relative to bus service and the possible reduc- <br />tion of water rates was read. On motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by <br />Councilman Jenkins, City Clerk was directed to write the Redwood City Bus Line <br />asking for co-operation in meeting a'll incoming trains. Communication was then <br />ordered filed. <br />Resolution adopted by the City Managers Department, League of California Cities, <br />September 24, 1942, in respect to the memory of our late City Manager, C. L. <br />Dimmitt, was read and ordered filed. <br />Permission was granted Peninsula Lodge of Elks to conduct a public dance at Foresters <br />Hall on October 29, 1942, on motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by CounciL- <br />man Anderson. <br />City Attorney McCarthy made a progress report on the feasibility of adopting an or- <br />dinance regulating the posting and removal of circus posters. The City Clerk <br />was directed to communicate with the Chamber of Commerce and the Redwood City <br />Real Estate Board soliciting their co-operation in this matter. <br />Agreement with Clelia Bertini relative to the reconstruction of a bulkhead along <br />the easterly bank of the creek passing through her property on Oak Avenue and <br />waiver. by Mrs. Bertini of claim of any liability for future maintenance of the <br />bulkhead by the City was approved on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded <br />by Councilman Jenkins. <br />W. J. McKeegan, Chester C. Armstrong and Lawrence G. Brian, appointed at the last <br />meeting to fill vacancies on the Board of Library Trustees, Board of Review, <br />and Planning Commission, respectively, were present and Oaths of Office admin- <br />-istered to them. <br />The above oaths of office were ordered filed on motion of Councilman Anderson, sec- <br />onded by Councilman McNulty. <br />A local 'Dim-out Ordinancell was introduced on motion of Councilman Fletcher, secondee. <br />by Councilman Anderson. <br />Application for dance permit by Court Madrone No. 158, Foresters of America, was <br />approved on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Anderson. <br />
