<br />'Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen C. C. Armstrong, C. A. Britschgi,

<br />E. A. Fletcher, W. W. Hilton, G. W. McNulty, Mayor F. D. Granger and City Clerk
<br />R. S. Dodge. Also present were: City Manager R. W. Mead, City Attorney Paul. A.
<br />McCarthy, Building Inspector L. n4. Duncan, Fire Chief Mark E. Ryan, Police Chief
<br />C. L. Collins, City Collector X. L. Miramontes, Street Superintendent H. L.
<br />ownership, the place of business having been formerly known as Primots Cigar
<br />Store. Mr. Vignola has a State and Federal license for the selling of beer and
<br />the health inspector's report has been sent to Dr. Gans. Councilman Fletcher
<br />moved that permit 'be granted subject to health authorities approval, seconded by
<br />Councilman McNulty. Motion passed unanimously.
<br />City Clerk Dodge read letter from the Swing Shift Entertainment Committee, Hammond.

<br />Aircraft Company, requesting permission to hold a.dance at Foresters Hall, Sunday
<br />night, February 13, 1944, stating the reason for wishing to hold the dance on
<br />Sunday being that the wring shift works all other nights. Councilman Armstrong
<br />asked if there weren't restrictions to issuing dance permits on Sunday nights.
<br />Councilman Britschgi stated that the same thing had been'discusaed before the
<br />Council. when National I.Iotor Bearing wanted to give a dance on Sunday night. City
<br />�• Attorney McCarthy stated that it wa:s a policy of the Council not to encourage.

<br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Hilton, minutes of previous

<br />Application for dance permit for" dances to be held Saturdays, Februa. 1 and 1

<br />-,at Foresters HaTl, was received from George Solari for Court Madrone, F. of.,A.
<br />Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by,Councilman McNulty, that permit be
<br />granted. Motion passed unanimously.
<br />Application.for dance permit was received from Howard Frederic for dance s, to be held
<br />Wednesdays, February 9 and 16, the $5.00 fee having been paid. Councilman Hilton
<br />seconded by Councilman McNulty, moved that permit be granted. Under the question

<br />George Solari addressed the Council and asked for a reconsideration in regard to
<br />the selling of beer at these Wednesday night dances. He stated that the dances
<br />fi
<br />would be operated by Mr. Frederic but the beer concession would be under the
<br />supervision of the F. of A. and under the same regulations as :on Saturday nights.
<br />Councilman Armstrong asked the maker of the motion to withdraw his motion and the
<br />second to be withdrawn and a new motion be made granting permit under the 'same
<br />conditions as the permits issued for Saturday nights. Mayor Granger asked the
<br />Chief of Police for a report on the Saturday night dances. Chief Collins re-
<br />ported the dahces were being conducted satisfactorily. Councilman. Hilton with-
<br />drew his 'original motion and moved that permit be granted under the same provisioi
<br />as permits are granted for Saturday night dances, seconded by Councilman McNulty.
<br />Motion passed unanimously.
<br />Application*for pool -room or bowling alley license was received from Silvio Vignola,
<br />2074 Broadway. City Clerk Dodge reported that this was a matter of exchange of
<br />ownership, the place of business having been formerly known as Primots Cigar

<br />the health inspector's report has been sent to Dr. Gans. Councilman Fletcher
