■! <br />City Manager.Mead•reported on letter sent to Reconstruction Finance Corporation. <br />He stated that the letter had been sent as instructed and a reply had been re— <br />ceived. We are eligible for the loan and the corporation sent the necessary <br />papers'to be filled out. The papers are prepared and.are ready to be forwarded. <br />He stated, however, that he had attended the City Managers' Convention in <br />Berkeley over the week—end and one of the subjects under discussion had been the <br />matter of financing municipal public works. He stated he was somei6at discourag- <br />ed about the benefits to be derived from the R. F. 0. and learned that the best <br />interest,rate we could get was 3%. He believed it would be possible to obtain <br />the money at interest and asked that the matter be referred back to the <br />finance committee. Councilman Britschgi.moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, <br />that the City Manager's report be filed and the matter be referred to the <br />finance committee. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, that matter of ordinance <br />prohibiting cutting up of houses into one and two room apartments be postponed <br />until the next meeting and placed on.the agenda. Motion passed unanimously. <br />City Clerk Dodge presented election precincts and officials. He stated that polling <br />places and precincts were coming in and felt they would be cooplete within a <br />day or two. City Attorney McCarthy advised the Council that the matter could <br />be held over until the next meeting when enough officials have signed up, as the <br />names..should be included in the resolution when it is adopted. City Attorney <br />McCarthy asked if the Council wanted to keep the polling places open on election <br />day, from 6:00 A. M. to 7:00 P. M. as in other years or if 7:00 A. I4. to T:00 <br />P. Pd. would be long enough, because of daylight savings -time. Mr. W. J. McKeegai <br />spoke from the floor saying he believed it would be advisable to open the polls <br />at 6:00 A. M. inasmuch as many commuters left for work before 7:00 A. M. and <br />did not return until after 7:00 P. M - <br />It was decided that sample ballots would be printed and distributed and also <br />that polling place cards would be inserted. It was also.agreed to pay the <br />officials $7.50. <br />City Attorney McCarthy advised the Council that lirs. Miramontes had found 176 parcels <br />of land delinquent for five years or more. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty, 176 deeds from Nelle L. Miramontes, as City <br />Collector (Tax Collector), to the City of Redwood City conveying property delin— <br />quent-for city taxes for more than five years were presented and accepted, and t.1e <br />City Collector was directed to have said deeds retarded in the office of the <br />County Recorder,of the County of Saxe Mateo, State of California. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />Councilman Armstrong asked to have the City Manager look at the trees on Fulton St: <br />between Brewster and Katherine Avenues. He said it had been reported that they <br />were shading the street lights. <br />Mayor Granger stated that some time in the past the matter of.a survey of parking <br />lots in the city had been referred to the Planning Commission but that no head— <br />way had been made in the matter and asked that it again be referred to them. <br />0 <br />�t <br />
