Councilman <br />Fletcher changed his motion to read that the City donate $400.00 to the Red <br />Cross, the funds to be appropriated -out of the unbudgeted reserve. ' Motion pass <br />unanimously. <br />City Clerk Dodge advised the Council of a meeting of the Peninsula Division of the <br />League of California Cities to beheld at the Palace Hotel, Thursday; March 16, <br />the City of San Francisco to be the host. <br />City Clerk Do <br />dge read communication from Captain Wm. H. Gilson•addresseclto Council— <br />man Britschgi in regard to the. local unit of the California State Guard locating <br />off ice, space in Redwood City and asking permission to attend 'the next council <br />meeting.- Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher; that <br />Captain Gilson be notified of the time of the next council meeting. <br />Miss Louise'Stiles appeared before the Council stating that the Girl Scouts' Council <br />had asked. her to inform the Council that they would be delighted to accept any <br />funds willingly given and,they were withdrawing their request made at the last <br />meeting. <br />Mr.. Archibald appeared before the Council in regard to the building across 'the street <br />from his property at East Hopkins Avenue, which was being built in violation of <br />city ordinances.: City Building Inspector Duncan advised the Council'that he <br />had notified Mr. Del Ben to remove the structure in accordance with Section 4 of <br />Ordinance No. 360. " <br />City Attorney McCarthy requested City Clerk Dodge to read his report,to the <br />Council, which was requested at the last meeting, to prevent the raising of <br />chickens on property that was not occupied. The report stated that this matter <br />was covered in subsection 7, Section 1 of Ordinance No. 451. The report further <br />stated that Section 4 of Ordinance No. 360 prohibits the construction of out— <br />buildings, sheds or garages until at least 25% of the residence of business <br />building is completed. <br />City Manager Mead presented to the Council the estimate of Mr. Caldwell of the Y. M. <br />'C. A. in the amount of $377 in regard to request for funds made at the last <br />Council meeting. - <br />City Clerk Dodge read letter from the Recreation Commission in which they asked <br />the City Council to refer requests of this nature to them for their study and <br />recommendation. Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, <br />that request for funds from the various youth organizations be submitted to the <br />Recreation Commission for study and their recommendation to be submitted at the <br />next meeting -of the Council. Under the question, Councilman Hilton believed the <br />Recreaaon Commission shou4d be advised that the money Aonated to the Boy Scouts <br />was appropriated for the specific'purpose of fixing the building iii Which they <br />were meeting and it was appropriated to them because the city could not spend <br />f <br />funds on any building except that which is owned by the city. Councilman Armstrc <br />asked members of the Recreation Commission present to advise the Council of any <br />plan they might have in mind in regard to these requests. <br />Mr. Don Bogie addressed the Council stating that he was a member of the <br />r <br />
